The Apocalypse Survival Manual (Three Days Before Doomsday, I Stockpiled Billions) novel Chapter 368

Chapter 368

The plan was set, and Zeph went back to rest.

The next day, Felix sent word to Drakehold Base to arrange a meeting, while Nicole asked him for explosives and gasoline.

“What do you need those for?” Felix asked.

Nicole didn’t bother sugarcoating it. “If Cola doesn’t train first, what happens if he gets tired halfway or drops it in the wrong place?”

Felix smacked his forehead. “Right, my mistake.”

He gave the order right away, then added, “But that stuff’s dangerous. If he runs around the base with a live charge and someone panics and fires, we’ve got a problem. How about this? Train with dirt first. Use the real thing when it counts.”

Nicole nodded. “Fine, but don’t forget the sniper rifle. We’re not providing manpower and weapons. We can’t get one ourselves anyway.”

“No problem. I’ll take care of it.”

What a slippery guy. He wasn’t letting anything slip.

That evening, Felix stood on the villa balcony with binoculars, watching Cola run drills with a heavy dummy charge, sprinting, crawling, leaping.

The whole base gathered to watch.

Even Felix couldn’t hide his interest. That dog was exceptional. He wanted it,

Drakehold Base must have taken losses, too. They actually agreed to the meeting, though they insisted on picking the location.

Felix didn’t like it, but his goal wasn’t negotiation. It was wiping them out. He agreed anyway.

The terrain wasn’t ideal. There was no way to set up an ambush ahead of time.

Zeph studied the area again and again. “Did you get the rifle?”

It took some effort, but Felix got one through unofficial channels,

It wasn’t the latest model, and its effective range was around 1,800 yards, but it was more than enough for Zeph.

As for the rest, Zeph advised against setting anyone up in advance.

“If we’re talking, we do it out in the open. Let them focus on that. If we start sneaking around, they’ll get suspicious.”

Felix agreed in the end.

The meeting was set for two days later, but Zeph insisted on leaving a day early.

Drakehold Base was run by former military washouts. They would think the same way he did. He needed time to scout and set things up, in case they tried to box them in.

Even after days of listening, Felix still didn’t fully trust him. Letting him leave early with a sniper rifle and explosives didn’t sit right.

But Zeph was the key to the plan. Blocking him outright would look bad.

Felix thought it through, then smiled. “Poppy’s still a kid. If things get ugly, it won’t be pretty. Probably not something she should see. What do you think?”

He was holding her as hostage, plain and simple. Refuse, and they wouldn’t be leaving at all.

Zeph had expected it. “Fine, but she’s under your protection. I don’t want a single hair on her head touched before I get back.”

Felix nodded smoothly. “Of course. She’s a sweet kid. I’ll make sure she’s taken care of.”

No one here was naive. Felix just had the advantage of timing and position. Without that, not many would follow

him.

Back at their place, Zeph didn’t hide it. “Poppy, Nicole and I have to head out tonight. We’ll be back tomorrow. Can you stay here by yourself?”
