The Apocalypse Survival Manual (Three Days Before Doomsday, I Stockpiled Billions) novel Chapter 370

Chapter 370

Nicole finally relented. “There is. Tell me your plan. Once this is over, I’ll let you walk.”

The man hesitated. “You’re with Ironvale Base?”

That didn’t make sense. If Ironvale had people like this, they wouldn’t be losing ground.

“Maybe. Maybe not.” Nicole racked the slide. “You wanna live or not?”

Of course he did. He had no intention of dying here. If Drakehold didn’t work out, he could always move to another base. No reason to throw his life away.

So he told them everything. Personnel, layout, the full plan. He held nothing back, just hoping they would keep their word.

Nicole did. She decided to keep him alive until tomorrow.

To be safe, Zeph found a hidden cave and stashed him there, stripping his clothes off in the process.

The man trembled. “Hey, come on. At least leave me my underwear.”

Underwear? Not a chance.

They took everything, tied him up, and shoved two tablets into his mouth, enough to keep him out cold for the next 24 hours.

He struggled, but one look at Cola’s bared teeth made him freeze. Moments later, the drug took hold, and he dropped into a deep sleep.

Zeph made sure his mouth was secured.

Nicole stored the man’s vehicle in the storage space, then followed his instructions, stacking stones at the roadside to signal the area was clear, no ambush.

Zeph chose a position closer to Drakehold’s side. It had better visibility, a shorter distance, and it left their backs exposed, making it easier for Cola to approach without being noticed.

There was still time. Nicole opened the man’s pack and found a brand new sniper rifle inside.

Zeph took it out and checked the calibration. “Top-tier brand, good for up to 3,000 yards. Barely any wear on it. Looks like it’s never been used.”

Nicole couldn’t help thinking some people had all the gear and none of the skill. Someone that mediocre carrying a rifle like this was a lucky break for them.

Dawn crept in before they realized it. Nicole pulled out a sandwich to eat, then settled back into position.

The sun climbed, turning harsh and unforgiving. Before long, it was close to 9 a.m.

Ironvale Base showed up first. They had three SUVS and a truck, around 50 people total, all armed.

The SUVs had their curtains drawn. Nicole studied them through her scope but couldn’t tell which one Felix was in.

Careful, as always.

The agreed time came and went, but Drakehold Base still hadn’t shown up.

A deliberate delay. It was clearly a power move.

After about 15 minutes, Nicole spotted movement in the distance. Two SUVs and two trucks, the trucks packed with people.

There had been an agreed headcount for the meeting, but from her vantage point, it was obvious Drakehold had brought more than they were supposed to.

There was no question about it. They were going all in, planning to wipe out Ironvale under the cover of negotiations.

Not trusting Felix’s supplies, Nicole pulled out Zeph’s homemade charges and fuel bombs from the storage space. “Maybe I should go instead.”

She didn’t trust leaving it all to Cola. If something went wrong, she could at least retreat into the storage space.
