The Apocalypse Survival Manual (Three Days Before Doomsday, I Stockpiled Billions) novel Chapter 375

Chapter 375

Zeph rested a hand on Poppy’s head, calming her down.

“Zeph, over here.” Anthony came over grinning, full of energy. “Let me introduce you to the main players in the base. This is our second-in-command…”

All the core leaders were there, and the looks they gave Zeph were all different. Some measured him, some dismissed him, some looked jealous, and some were openly impressed.

As for Nicole, the looks she drew were even more complicated.

After all, she was young and striking, with a sharp edge and a hint of something untamed.

Whether they had already lost themselves or were simply tired of the women kept in the base, something shifted in them when they saw her, a crude urge to break her down.

Firelight flickered across the yard, and the dim bulbs strung overhead cast just enough shadow to hide whatever passed through Zeph’s eyes.

They could think what they wanted, but without knowing his background, no one dared provoke the man who had taken out the Drakehold Base director with a single shot.

After making the rounds, Zeph asked, “Where’s Felix?”

Anthony’s smile held a trace of meaning. “Had a little too much fun this afternoon. He’ll show up later.”

The banquet was set for 8 p.m., and with the time getting close, Zeph rested his hand on Poppy’s head. “Go play. Stay close.”

Poppy didn’t want to go, but Cola suddenly perked up, and the two of them ended up heading off together.

After a win that had pulled them back from the edge, everyone in the base looked at Zeph differently now, and that didn’t sit well with the other leaders.

With him around, would the boss even need them anymore?

One of them got an idea and shot a glance at a well-dressed woman nearby.

She picked up on it right away and swayed over to Zeph, reaching out to touch him, but he stepped back before she could.

“Hey,” she said, her voice soft and teasing. “Name’s Mandy. Let’s get to know each other. No need to be so tense.”

She leaned in again, moving with practiced ease.

The leaders exchanged looks behind the scenes. Mandy Ainsworth was good at this. Men like Zeph usually didn’t last long.

So he was impressive? Tonight, they would make him look like a joke.

Nicole watched everything. In a place like this, a woman who could move that easily either had skills that outmatched the men or was willing to use what she had to get ahead.

Mandy moved with confidence and dressed better than the others. She clearly wasn’t dealing with just any thug and had carved out her own place.

The world had fallen apart. Everyone survived however they could. That wasn’t her concern.

But the moment she became a tool aimed at Nicole and Zeph, that was different. These idiots didn’t have much real ability, but they made up for it with plenty of tricks.
