Chapter 395
Honestly, Weasel didn’t need to sound that professional.
Still, they had worked together before. Business was business.
Nicole pulled out a list. “Think you can get all of this?”
Sliding steel doors, shade canopies, sealant, removable wooden flooring…
He scanned it and grinned. Nicole always asked for the most random stuff. “Give me five days. I’ll get it done. What are you trading?”
Nicole looked at him. “What do you want?”
“What do I want?” He snorted. “Fresh water, of course.”
That was what everyone wanted most.
Ever since she disappeared, their water business had fallen apart. His boss had been losing money every day, and his own cut had shrunk to almost nothing. His wife had already started complaining.
Now that he had a chance, Weasel pushed his luck. “This isn’t easy to get. I need two truckloads of water.”
“Say that again.”
Nicole gave him a flat look, like he had just said something unbelievably stupid. Did he really think she would fall for that?
He shrank immediately. “One truck?”
She didn’t say anything, giving him one last chance.
“Half a truck,” he said quickly. “That’s the lowest I can go. Any less, and we lose money. Your list isn’t small.”
Nicole thought it over, then nodded. “Fine. And don’t try that again. Bring the truck when you have my stuff ready.
Weasel brightened right away. This was a solid deal.
“While we’re at it,” he added, “we can restart the water business.”
“No.” Nicole shut it down. “Water’s getting harder to find. Even half a truck will take effort. I’m not doing long- term supply anymore.”
Before, she had done it to expand her storage space. Now that it had stopped growing, she wasn’t willing to take
that risk.
There was always a chance it could run out completely. Better to be careful.
Besides, whatever water she put out would never reach the people who actually needed it. She wasn’t interested in supplying another pool party.
She didn’t want that coming back to bite her.
Weasel sighed, disappointed, but he knew better than to push.
As she turned to leave, Nicole paused. “One more thing. I need iodine tablets. Ask your boss to look into it. And I want another batch of water tanks.”

She made a quick pass through the trading street but didn’t see anything worth buying and headed back.
By the time she returned to Oakhaven Gardens, it was close to 10 p.m.
She took out the radio, and Zeph came down to open the door. “Everything go smoothly?”
“Yeah.” She smiled slightly. “Guess who I ran into.”
“Sven or Weasel?”
She raised a brow. “How’d you know?”
“Who else do you deal with regularly?”
Nicole shot him a look. “You’re no fun.”
