Chapter 44
Nicole had never used condoms herself, but she knew what they were worth during the apocalypse. In a world like this, they would be hard to come by, which made them great for trading.
Preventing pregnancies meant protecting women.
She didn’t hesitate. Most of them went straight into her storage space. Then she paused, grabbed a handful, and tossed them into a black trash bag.
She didn’t count, but there were probably a few dozen.
After clearing the 15th floor, she moved down to the 14th. The entire level was taken up by a single tech company.
Rows and rows of workstations stretched out, almost endless.
The boss must’ve made serious money. Employee perks were stacked. The break room was loaded with high-end snacks, instant noodles for late nights, and a fridge packed with steaks.
When she opened it, the smell hit her so hard that she almost gagged.
She grabbed what she could from the break room, then headed for the boss’s office.
It probably belonged to a CEO with a big personality. The place was huge, easily a few thousand square feet. It had an office space, a reception area, lounge, and even a private…collection room.
Seriously? A personal collection room in the office?
The heavy, reinforced door caught her attention. Nicole forced it open, straining until it finally gave way.
And then she stopped.
Right in front of her was a vintage display shelf with polished wood. Hanging in the center was a long sword, its sheath carved with intricate patterns, its silver accents catching the light.
Nicole stepped forward, took it down, and drew the blade.
The edge flashed cold and sharp. It had weight in her hand, but not too heavy.
One look was enough to tell it was quality. Way better than the butcher knife she had been using.
Nicole swung it at a wooden crate nearby. It sliced through like it was nothing.
She stared at it for a second.
This wasn’t just a blade. This was a weapon.
The shelves held all kinds of antiques. Decorative pottery, vintage vases, carved boxes, old brass pieces, and stone paperweights.
Nicole didn’t know much about that kind of stuff, but if this guy collected them and kept them next to a weapon like this, they weren’t cheap.
You could see the wear of time on them.
In peaceful times, things like this were worth a fortune. Now, they weren’t worth a loaf of bread.
Still, they looked good, so she took them anyway. They didn’t take up space, and they would make decent decorations later.

On the wall to the left hung several paintings, all from well-known artists. Any one of them could’ve been worth millions.
Then she noticed something piled in the corner: cases of high-end liquor. Vintage bottles, collector editions, stacked neatly.
Ten bottles of a rare reserve, worth tens of thousands each. Cases of premium labels, dozens of them, untouched.
This wasn’t just alcohol. It was luxury.
Nicole didn’t hesitate. It all went into her storage space.
The boss clearly had expensive tastes.
A diamond-studded luxury mechanical watch sat in a case. Nearby was a full set of professional diving gear, top tier, limited edition.
