The Apocalypse Survival Manual (Three Days Before Doomsday, I Stockpiled Billions) novel Chapter 450

Chapter 450

“Nicole wouldn’t have given it if she were short on it. But for you, this could save your life.”

Lydia didn’t back down.

“We’ll remember what she’s done for us. If there’s ever a chance, we’ll repay her.”

Worried about upsetting Gabrielle, she added, “We still have a jar of pickled fish. Maybe we can give it to her.”

In the end, everyone wanted to live. Especially Gabrielle, who couldn’t stop worrying about her family.

She let out a long breath. “Alright. Wrap the jar well. Don’t let anyone see it.”

Lydia grabbed a worn cloth, wrapped the jar, and stuffed it into a bag before hurrying out.

But the scooter was already gone.

After seeing the point system, Alex felt his heart sink.

On the way back, he and Isaac talked it through. The early warning had saved most of the population. That was a blessing.

But resources hadn’t increased. If anything, survival had become harder.

Isaac couldn’t hide his anxiety.

“We gave up three buildings to take in the refugees and only got 5,000 points. Early warning gave us 2,000, and organizing the rescue another 3,000. Even with everything you fought for, that only gets us two units.

“There are over 100 people in our community. What are we supposed to do?”

Alex thought it over. “If we move, it won’t be like Oakhaven Gardens anymore. We need to be ready for harder conditions. We can’t decide for everyone. We ask what they want, then make a plan.”

Since it was just the two of them, Isaac didn’t hold back. “Are you moving?”

“I am. You?”

“I have to. If not for me, then for my son.”

People in Oakhaven Gardens had skills, but in this world, that didn’t count for much. Getting each household its own place wasn’t realistic.

Sharing might be.

“How about we share?” Isaac asked.

It made sense. Two families pooling their points and food could afford one unit.

“Alex, our families know each other. We could do it together.”

Time was tight. As soon as they got back, they called a meeting.

Alex tried to reach Zeph over the radio, but got no answer. He was probably out.

With only the two of them missing, Isaac hesitated. “Should we wait?”

Alex wanted to, but he knew Zeph and Nicole had options. Even a two-room unit would be beneath them, let alone sharing.

Time meant points. Some people had already started scavenging, digging through the ruins for steel doors and frames, even breaking concrete to pull out rebar.

What if Zeph and Nicole didn’t come back for days?

“We don’t wait. We get everyone together and hear them out. I’ll talk to them later.”

One by one, representatives arrived.

“What? That’s insane! Five thousand points and five hundred pounds of grain for a place without a living room or bathroom?”
