The Apocalypse Survival Manual (Three Days Before Doomsday, I Stockpiled Billions) novel Chapter 485

Chapter 485

In less than a day, the ten-foot perimeter wall was finished.

Next came the villa itself.

The interior was still bare, so the walls needed plastering. Since the original walls were too thin, Nicole and Zeph. decided on three extra-thick coats: a cement mortar base, a mixed mortar middle layer, and a white lime finish.

The extra thickness wasn’t for durability. It was for soundproofing.

Before the apocalypse, Leon Jackson had worked construction as a renovation contractor. After the world fell apart, he started working under Sven as one of his traders. He wasn’t living in luxury, but compared to most survivors, he had it good.

Back in his old profession, Leon was completely in his element, confidently directing Weasel and the others/ around the job site.

Unfortunately, he got a little too into it.

“Boss, that’s not right. The plaster isn’t thick enough.”

Sven didn’t say a word. He smacked Leon across the back of the head.

“Are you telling me how to do my job now?”

Leon folded immediately. “No, no! I’d never! Boss, you’ve worked hard. Go sit down and have some water. I’ll take care of the plastering.”

Sven tossed him the tools. “Quit standing around. If I catch anyone slacking off, you’ll answer for it!”

Nicole and Zeph barely had a chance to pitch in. The crew worked so fast that the two of them spent the entire day hauling supplies back from outside.

Cement, river sand, crushed stone, lime, floor tiles, waterproofing materials, latex paint, doors, windows…

Even Sven couldn’t help staring.

“Seriously, where’d you find all this? Introduce me to your supplier. We’ll corner the villa district’s renovation market and split the profits 50-50.”

Nicole laughed.

“Come on, Sven. It took us over six months to collect all this. If it were that easy, we’d already be making that money ourselves instead of handing you the opportunity.”

After thinking it over, Sven had to admit she had a point.

Usable supplies were getting harder to find by the day, and the earthquake had buried countless buildings beneath the rubble. Pulling together such a complete collection of renovation materials was no small feat.

Still…

Those floor tiles were beautiful. Definitely high-end.

He could source almost everything else himself, but he couldn’t stop thinking about those tiles.

“Can you get me a set, too?”

“Sure. I’ll ask around,” Nicole said. “I just can’t guarantee I’ll find the exact same style.”

The crew moved on to leveling the floors, laying tile, waterproofing, installing toilets, and fitting security doors and windows…

Apparently, being a good trader also meant being a skilled contractor.

In just a few days, the villa had been completely transformed.

The bathrooms looked spotless. The tiled floors gleamed. Even the garage had been fully renovated As for the exterior, tiling it would have been an unnecessary extravagance. A coat of cement render was more than enough to protect it from wind, acid rain, and smog.

Combined with the tall stone wall surrounding the property, the villa felt far more secure.

The plain cement exterior also helped it blend in. If desperate survivors ever flooded into the district, the flashy luxury mansions would be the first places they targeted.

Less than ten days later, everything except the greenhouses was finished.

The newly renovated house needed time to air out, so Nicole’s group left all the windows open during the day and slept in a tent on the rooftop at night.

After taking measurements and calculating the materials needed, Nicole handed the high-strength transparent glass panels over to Sven’s crew.

“There’s no hurry with the greenhouses. Build them whenever you have time. Take care of the more important jobs first.”

The greenhouses still required additional materials, but since Sven had already agreed to help, she was confident he would find a way.
