The Apocalypse Survival Manual (Three Days Before Doomsday, I Stockpiled Billions) novel Chapter 521

Chapter 521

Nicole finally stopped, but Cola wasn’t done. He lunged forward and locked his jaws around the man’s throat.

All Nicole had to do was give the command, and Cola would tear into the two-legged threat without hesitation. He might even get a fresh bone out of it.

The man wet himself the instant Cola’s teeth closed around his throat.

Ignoring the approaching security patrol, Nicole stared down at him coldly. “You have one chance to get out of this alive. Take it or don’t.”

The man shook violently. “I’ll take it! Please, call him off!”

“Who sent you?”

As soon as Nicole asked, Cola tightened his grip. The man screamed in terror.

“It was Ms. Clark! She’s still furious that you hit her last time, and then you had the nerve to go after Marcus. She wanted to teach you a lesson!”

He waited until he thought Nicole’s group was out. He just didn’t expect them to come back and catch him in the

act.

Camila?

Nicole didn’t socialize much with the wealthy residents, but thanks to Sven, she still heard plenty of neighborhood gossip.

During the extreme heat, the Clarks threw their daughter a lavish pool party for her 18th birthday, hoping to help her attract a wealthy husband.

The rich bachelor they had set their sights on was none other than Marcus.

Jealousy and resentment had a way of twisting people’s thinking. Instead of learning her lesson after their last confrontation, Camila only grew to hate Nicole more after Marcus sent gifts to her home. She somehow convinced herself that Nicole stole the man she loved.

Anyone with eyes could see that Nicole and Zeph were together.

Nicole couldn’t understand where Camila got the nerve. She didn’t even go easy on Marcus, so why would Camila think she could get away with this?

“Did she hire you?”

With his life on the line, the man didn’t dare lie.

“I work for her family. She gave me ten pounds of rice, and since her family employs me, I couldn’t refuse. Please let me go! I don’t even want the rice anymore.”

It wasn’t that Camila never considered hiring an outsider. The neighborhood had strict security, and every visitor had to register at the gate, which would have made the culprit much easier to trace.

Ethan happened to be one of the guards on patrol. He quickly said, “I’ve seen him before. He does work for the Clarks.”

Now that the guards understood what happened, they were at a loss as to what to do.

They were just trying to earn their food by doing their jobs. Why did they keep getting dragged into disputes between homeowners?

They couldn’t step in because no one could take on the people from Villa 50, but what would happen if someone ended up dead if they simply walked away?

Zeph looked at the patrol. “Go back to your rounds. We’ll handle this peacefully.”

Kyle immediately took the hint.

Right. They had patrols to finish. Keeping the neighborhood safe was their top priority.

Still, he felt obligated to give them a warning. “You’re all homeowners here. It’s best to keep the peace. Whatever the issue is, sit down and talk it out.”

Zeph smiled. “Of course.”

The moment the patrol disappeared from sight, Nicole grabbed the man by the collar and dragged him toward Villa 39.

It was the apocalypse. Who the hell still sat down and talked things out peacefully?

Villa 39 had a front yard enclosed by a white picket fence. Newly transplanted flowers and shrubs filled the garden, and a pink swing stood among them.

Nicole raised her foot and kicked the gate a few times.
