The Apocalypse Survival Manual (Three Days Before Doomsday, I Stockpiled Billions) novel Chapter 523

Chapter 523

Maybe Camila wouldn’t have been so furious if it were anyone else, but Nicole looked far too much like her.

Nicole wasn’t as young or beautiful as she was. She was plain, unfashionable, and completely lacking in sophistication. What gave a woman like that the right to steal Marcus from her?

Camila even stripped in front of Marcus before, and he didn’t spare her a second glance. Yet he followed Nicole around like a lovesick puppy.

“Stop!”

Irene hurried over with a maid supporting her.

The sight of her precious daughter covered in filth and the Clarks humiliated in front of the entire neighborhood sent a surge of rage through her. Without thinking, she raised her hand and swung at Nicole’s face.

Nicole caught her wrist and spoke, her tone cold.

“Mrs. Clark, maybe you should take a look at the way you raised your daughter before you start blaming me. She has no sense of right and wrong, and absolutely no shame. What makes you think you have any right to hit me?

“You think being older and having money makes you untouchable? The world has ended, and you’re still throwing your weight around like anyone cares who you used to be.

“I can overlook a lot, but I won’t let anyone walk all over me. Touch me again, and your precious daughter will pay for it.”

Irene trembled with rage. “Wh-what do you want?”

“Maybe you should ask your daughter,” Nicole shot back. “She decided I was after Marcus, so she sent someone to smear human waste all over my house. Is that how a well-bred young lady is supposed to behave?

“I have a family of my own, but even if I were single, who I spent time with would still be none of her business. She doesn’t get to control my life.”

Irene immediately denied everything. “That’s a lie! You beat him until he told you what you wanted to hear!”

Nicole had no interest in arguing with her. “We have a witness and proof. Since you still insist she’s innocent, let’s call the police and let them sort it out.”

“No…” Irene knew exactly what her daughter was capable of, but she couldn’t admit it.

Nicole had crossed a line by using violence, but if the police got involved and Camila was officially found responsible, her reputation would be ruined. No respectable family would want anything to do with her after that.

Irene glanced at the crowd. Most of them came from families that were normally on good terms with the Clarks, and some were Camila’s closest friends. Yet not one of them stepped forward.

Powerful people were easier to deal with than reckless ones who had nothing to lose. No one wanted to risk getting on the bad side of the people from Villa 50.

Irene couldn’t help thinking that Camila was an idiot. She warned the girl time and again not to provoke the people from Villa 50. They weren’t even afraid of the Robinsons, and the police were already proven powerless against them.

After weighing her options, Irene softened her tone. “This is all a misunderstanding. The man acted on his own. I’ll make him apologize and clean everything up.”

“Is there something wrong with your hearing, or are you just stupid?”

Nicole made no effort to spare Irene’s pride.

“He’s standing right here, and you’re already trying to change the story. Did you honestly think I’d let that slide?

“You know this wasn’t a misunderstanding. You want me to let this go without embarrassing you, but you haven’t given me a single reason to.”

Irene didn’t expect Nicole to push this far. She clearly meant to force Camila to admit what she had done in front of the entire neighborhood. After that, how could the Clarks ever hold their heads up again?

Irene’s face turned bright red. “Do you really have to take this so far?”

“Why wouldn’t I?” Nicole asked. “Who do you think you are? Why should I care about protecting your pride?”

Irene’s face burned with anger. “I-I…”

“What’s going on?”

Marcus finally arrived with the security patrol, striding toward them with his usual swagger. “What happened?”
