The Apocalypse Survival Manual (Three Days Before Doomsday, I Stockpiled Billions) novel Chapter 556

Chapter 556

Nicole’s words cut deeper than any knife.

Marcus covered his face.

He had been cooped up for so long that he was losing his mind, so he thought a hunting trip in the mountains might clear his head. How was he supposed to know the wilderness was crawling with monsters?

Nicole ignored him and had Jason brought in next.

Jason was as cold and distant as ever, sitting rigidly without saying a word. Marcus couldn’t stand seeing him like

this.

“Come on, stop beating yourself up. That woman only looked a little like Valerie. It wasn’t really her. Think about it. Both of Valerie’s legs were broken, and then she was swept away in the typhoon. There’s no way she could stil be alive.”

Jason looked completely hollow, as though he had nothing left to live for, but he still said nothing.

Nicole would never understand men like him. They treated a woman terribly while she was alive, then destroyed themselves with regret once she was gone.

Since he was acting so tough, using anesthetic on him seemed like a waste.

Nicole began stitching the wound without it.

Jason sucked in a sharp breath and shot her a murderous glare.

Well, apparently he could feel pain after all.

That couldn’t be right. According to the stories, once dominant CEOs like Jason lost the woman they loved and tried to make amends, they were supposed to slash their wrists or dig their fingers into freshly stitched wounds without even flinching.

Nicole looked at him calmly. “Do you want anesthetic?”

Jason drew another sharp breath, and the corner of his mouth twitched. “Yes. Just a little.”

“It’s only a flesh wound. The pain isn’t even a fraction of what it feels like to have your bones broken.”

Jason, already covered in blood and now being mocked by the person treating him, had nothing to say.

It took Nicole more than an hour to finish patching him up.

The Robinsons had plenty of medication, so Nicole also set some aside for the mastiff before preparing to leave.

Eric, the head of the family, spoke up. “Ms. Floyd, thank you for going to so much trouble.”

“It was no trouble.” Nicole gave him a polite smile. “I owed Marcus a favor. I was only paying him back.”

Eric understood exactly what she meant, but he continued thanking her anyway.

No matter what, if they hadn’t found a capable doctor in time, they would have had to go to considerable trouble to get Marcus back into the government base.

The people in Villa 50 were clearly no ordinary residents. All the effort the Robinsons had put into building a relationship with them had been worth it.

Peter personally escorted them out, his attitude far more respectful than before. “Take care, Ms. Floyd.”

The moment Nicole and Zeph left, Eric shut the door and started beating his son.

“Dad, don’t…stop! Ow!”

Nicole had barely been home for long when someone knocked on the door again. Another injured person came looking for medical help.

Apparently, Jason and Marcus weren’t the only ones who went hunting in the mountains. Several other wealthy young men from the neighborhood joined them and got hurt as well.

As soon as word got out that someone in Villa 50 had medical training, people started showing up at the door.

This time, it was a servant from the Shaws, the family of HOA vice president, Jocelyn. Her son had also been injured, and they wanted Nicole to treat him.

Nicole almost laughed.

Jocelyn was the one who pushed to exclude Villa 50. What made her think she could come asking for help now?

Nicole ignored the servant and sat down to enjoy her seafood dinner.
