Cola sensed the danger immediately. His fur stood on end, and a low growl rumbled in his throat.

The four of them quickly put on bulletproof vests and helmets, then headed up to the roof.

Through their night-vision goggles, they saw crowds pouring into the neighborhood like a flood, armed with knives, pitchforks, clubs, and anything else they could use as a weapon.

Glass shattered. Doors splintered. Gates buckled under repeated blows.

Screams, sobs, and cries of pain filled the air. The sounds blended together until the entire neighborhood seemed to have descended into hell.

The Robinsons’ villa at the center of the neighborhood became the first target.

They were the richest family in Westbridge, always eating well, driving luxury cars, and flying around in a helicopter. Naturally, the mob wanted them first.

The rioters charged the gate, only to scream when the electrified metal shocked them. They raised ladders and tried to scale the walls, but the electric fence sent them crashing back to the ground.

After falling ten feet, many of them couldn’t get back up.

At the same time, gunfire erupted from inside the villa.

Unfortunately, the house stood too far from the gate, and the high walls blocked most of the shooters’ lines of sight, so the gunfire did little damage.

Still, it was enough to frighten the rioters.

Anyone who had survived four years of the apocalypse knew when to retreat, ‘The mob immediately changed targets and began attacking the other villas.

After watching for a while, Nicole realized the rioters were organized.

Several separate groups joined the attack, and they quickly divided the neighborhood into territories. Each group claimed certain homes to loot and warned the others to stay out.

Zeph saw it, too.

“Some are organized gangs. Others are from the same hometown or apartment buildings. Some came from the slums, and others turned violent after being robbed themselves. They divided into groups and planned this before they got here.”

There were only 50 villas, and before long, one of the groups claimed it as their target. More than 100 people charged toward the villa at the far end of the neighborhood.

A dense crowd quickly gathered outside the gate. Having learned from the people who had been shocked earlier, they carried over a dry log to use as a battering ram and hurled rocks at the windows.

Fortunately, the bullet-resistant glass didn’t even crack.

“Woof!”

Cola barked furiously from the rooftop.

“There’s a dog! They have a dog!”

The rioters below shouted with excitement. Anyone who could still afford to feed a dog had to be sitting on a huge stockpile.

Cola’s nonstop barking drew even more people toward the villa.

Someone had found a ladder and was trying to climb the wall to disable the electric fence. The rest of the mob cheered wildly, their excitement growing.

Anyone who had built walls this high had to be protecting an enormous amount of supplies!

They originally assumed the villa would be too much trouble to attack, only to realize it might be the richest prize in the neighborhood.

Nicole kept the lights off. She quietly activated the sprayer and pressed the button.

A fine mist of gasoline drifted into the air.

The bitter cold cut through everything. The rioters were bundled in heavy coats, scarves, and masks. In their frenzy, they didn’t immediately notice the gasoline settling over them.

By the time they caught the smell, their clothes were already soaked.

“Wait! That’s gasoline!”

The words had barely left his mouth when a flame suddenly appeared on the dark rooftop.

A torch arced through the air and landed in the middle of the crowd.

Fire erupted with a sharp whoosh, spreading almost instantly.
