The Apocalypse Survival Manual (Three Days Before Doomsday, I Stockpiled Billions) novel Chapter 568

Chapter 568

The two explosions brought the rioters’ celebration to an abrupt halt.

What the hell was happening? Now there were bombs, too?

Nicole wasn’t finished. She pulled out a small Bluetooth speaker and tossed it onto the road beyond the wall.

A piercing police siren soon cut through the darkness.

The rioters froze. They had been inside the neighborhood for less than 15 minutes, yet. the police already seemed to be closing in.

With bombs going off and officers apparently on the way, the place suddenly looked far less appealing.

The more cautious ones grabbed whatever they could carry and ran.

Others were too caught up in the violence to stop. They had completely lost control and kept swinging their clubs smashing everything in reach.

The thought of the police didn’t scare them. There couldn’t be more than a handful of officers, and after coming this far, they weren’t about to leave empty-handed.

This was a wealthy neighborhood. One good haul could feed them for years. They might never get another opportunity like this.

As far as they were concerned, everyone living there was a bloodsucking rich jerk who had built a fortune by exploiting others. They deserved to be robbed.

With so many people storming the neighborhood, the police couldn’t shoot everyone. Each rioter assumed someone else would be the unlucky one caught by a bullet.

The looting continued. The mob unleashed years of pent-up resentment, beating the wealthy residents who had seemed untouchable.

But no one dared go near the far end of the neighborhood, where flames still raged around Villa 50.

The riot went on, anguished screams mixing with wild cheers as gunshots cracked through the darkness.

The rioters took anything they could carry, including rice, flour, cooking oil, cured meat, blankets, and clothing. Some even turned on one another over the loot, and violence spread throughout the neighborhood.

The villas held more supplies than most people imagined. Robbing ten apartment buildings might not yield as much as clearing out a single home.

Many rioters left the neighborhood covered in blood but grinning as they carried armfuls of stolen goods.

The moment they reached the entrance, a piercing siren blared, and powerful spotlights swept over them.

“You’re surrounded! Drop your weapons and surrender!”

A commanding voice thundered through a loudspeaker as two trucks rolled forward. Well trained soldiers jumped out with rifles and sealed off the entrance.

Some rioters tried to run. Others were still too consumed by the violence to care and charged forward in wave after

wave.

Rapid gunfire erupted, rattling through the darkness like a string of firecrackers.

The soldiers fired with deadly accuracy, cutting down the front ranks and forcing the rest to retreat deeper into the neighborhood.

But darkness no longer offered them protection. While the rioters stumbled around nearly blind, soldiers and police officers swept through the area with night-vision equipment.

High-powered floodlights came on across the neighborhood, lighting up the sky. One battered villa after another emerged from the darkness, with bloodstained supplies scattered across the streets.

Some rioters were dead, others wounded, and the rest taken into custody. The uprising was completely brought under control.

As another announcement sounded over the loudspeaker, the gates of the Robinsons’ villa slowly opened. Eric came out with Marcus to meet them.

Jasper didn’t go inside right away. His gaze shifted toward the far end of the neighborhood, where flames were still burning.

“What happened over there?”

Marcus couldn’t quite hide his pride. “The rioters tried to storm one of the villas, so the owner sprayed them with gasoline and set them on fire. Took out a whole crowd.”

“Villa 50?”

“Yeah.”
