The Apocalypse Survival Manual (Three Days Before Doomsday, I Stockpiled Billions) novel Chapter 674

The medicinal herb fields represented years of everyone's hard work, and now two of them had been destroyed by falling satellites. Mitchell and the others were so stressed that painful sores had broken out all over their mouths.

There was no warning at all, and humanity had no way to fight back.

Several satellites had already crashed in Westbridge and Grayport alone, never mind everywhere else. It was starting to feel as if this disaster really meant to wipe humanity out.

Nicole knew how devastated Mitchell was, but she didn't know how to comfort him.

"Dr. Chapman, maybe one day, all of this will finally end."

She helped clean up the ruined greenhouse and salvaged as many medicinal herbs as she could. They worked until sunset before she finally drove back to Westbridge.

By the time they reached the neighborhood, it was completely dark. Poppy happened to glance up and pointed excitedly at the sky.

"Look! A shooting star!"

Nicole looked up and watched a streak of light move slowly across the sky before disappearing into the darkness.

When she was little, seeing a shooting star always made her happy. Now, there was nothing to be happy about.

That wasn't a shooting star; it was another satellite falling from orbit. Somewhere out there, another disaster was about to strike.

There were no bomb shelters, so survivors could only dig their own basements or reinforce whatever shelter they already had.

Compared with disasters that devastated entire regions, these random impacts were even more terrifying. No one knew when death might suddenly come for them next.

Every few days, Nicole went to the Robinson residence for follow-up visits and to remove stitches.

Eric got lucky. He only cut his forehead and suffered a mild concussion. The six stitches in his wound were ready to come out.

Gerry, who was once so handsome and full of attitude, now had a vicious scar across his face. He barely smiled anymore.

"Grandma, where's Mommy?"

Wendy forced herself to stay composed. "She went somewhere very far away. She'll come back when you're all grown up."

With some family members injured and others bedridden, the Robinson household had finally fallen into chaos.
