“That’s actually a smart idea. I’ll try it, too,” Nicole said, impressed with what the people in 1803 came up with.” Do you think I could hollow out my couch and stash food inside?”

Beatrice blinked.

Wait. Why didn’t they think of that?

After she left, Nicole went back to sewing the fur coat. She still had extra material, so she decided to make one for Snowy and Ash, too.

Both rabbits had thick fur, and Snowy was about to give birth again.

Nicole had no idea if they would survive the deep freeze. She wanted them to make it, but if they couldn’t, then they would become food.

It all came down to fate.

She picked both of them up, measuring and adjusting fabric as she worked. Their fur felt warm and soft in her

arms.

They had definitely filled out, especially Snowy. Her belly was round, heavy with kits.

By the time Nicole finished, three coats were done.

Not bad. She felt a little more confident in her DIY skills.

Fur alone wasn’t enough. She remembered all the fabric she had stored away and went to pick out warmer material to make extra layers.

Inside the storage space, she grabbed two bundles of fabric. That was when she spotted the crazy-expensive temperature-regulating clothing.

She pulled it out and decided to try it on.

It felt surprisingly good. It was soft and smooth against the skin, almost like silk.

A bit loose, though.

Maybe she could use it as sleepwear.

She was about to take it off when something felt off.

It was raining, and the temperature had dropped to around 70°F. She had been wearing a sweatshirt earlier and could still feel the chill.

But now, this thin layer kept her warm, like a soft film wrapping around her body. It was warmer than a sweatshirt.

Was it really regulating temperature?

Nicole stepped back into the storage space. The warmth faded. It was still comfortable, but not warm.

When she stepped back out, the warmth returned instantly.

So it worked. It was actually high-tech temperature-regulating clothing.

Nicole thought back. When she took it, she hadn’t noticed anything special, probably because the temperature

She walked over to the stove, turned on the flame, and held her hand above it. Her palm felt the heat, and so did

her arm.

But the farther from the source, the weaker the sensation.

So it didn’t keep everything at a constant temperature, but it adjusted instead.

That alone was incredible.

If not for the disasters, this kind of material would’ve changed everything. It was well worth its price tag.

Nicole had about 360 yards of the fabric. It wasn’t much, but if she used it carefully, it would last her a lifetime. She immediately decided to make two sets for herself and two for Cola. As for Snowy and Ash, she would use the

scraps.

She didn’t just need clothes. She wanted to make gloves, socks, and scarves, too. That would take a lot of material
