Chapter 103 Sector Six
Third-person POV:
Hugo studied Thora as she sat straight in the chair. He looked impressed but also puzzled.
“Ms. Green, have you had special training before?” he asked.
Thora answered coldly, “Mr. Stanton, you should know that better than I do.”

Hugo coughed twice in embarrassment. Then he straightened up and said, “Ms. Green, I’ll get straight to the point.”
Thora nodded, a small smile forming. “Good. I don’t like wasting time.”
Hugo went straight to the point. “Are you interested in joining the military?”
Thora lifted a brow. A hint of interest showed in her eyes.
“Do you know when I started paying attention to you?” Hugo asked.
“Shooting club,” she replied without hesitation. “That day, you were the one watching from the cameras.”
Surprise flashed across Hugo’s face. He knew Thora was sharp, but he didn’t expect her to pinpoint him that accurately.
“Since that day, you used the Sentinel System to track me. All day. Everywhere I went.” Thora’s voice grew colder as she locked her gaze on him. “Am I right?”
Hugo’s brows tightened. His posture straightened even more as he studied the young woman who could pass as a man in front of him.
“And how much more do you know?” he asked in a low voice.
In sharp contrast to Hugo’s serious posture, Thora leaned back a little. Her sitting position grew calm and relaxed, carrying a hint of swagger.
But she doesn’t appear childish. She held the cool confidence and quiet dominance of someone born to stand above others.
“How much I know depends on how much work General Stanton put into digging around me.”
Her meaning was clear: Whatever you did, I know it all.
Hugo’s sharp eyes narrowed. The soldier in him observed and measured every detail.
Right now, he felt all his efforts were worth it.
If Thora had shot that sniper, he decided she was a talent worth protecting, even if he had to stand in a military court to defend her himself.
Astralis Empire had many people, but very few true talents.

Those who stood out deserved a place at the top. That was why he overlooked Shirley’s record and insisted on recruiting her.
And now, with the empire facing a hidden crisis, he needed people like Thora even more.
“Ms. Green, you’re straightforward. I like that. Yes, I first noticed you at the shooting club.”
Hugo no longer hid it. “What I’m about to tell you is top-level military confidentiality. You must never share it. Your family has a long military history, so I trust you understand.”
His voice carried authority and a hint of warning.
Anyone else would have been intimidated. Thora simply gave him a cold glance.
“Mr. Stanton, people from military families can enlist whenever they want. I don’t need your help. And I never said I wanted to become a soldier. I don’t see why I need to hear your secrets.”
With that, Thora stood up and turned to leave.
She had promised her grandpa she would join the military, but she never promised she would serve the Astralis Empire.
If she wanted, she could build her own force. Thora could fight for herself, not stand around like a rookie letting others boss her around.
“Wait!” Hugo called out quickly.
Her attitude left him both angry and helpless.
Thora wasn’t his soldier, so he couldn’t command her. And honestly, he was the one begging for her talent in the first place.
Thora turned back, frowning. “General Stanton, what else do you need?”
Hugo stared at her for a long time. His voice rose with emotion. “Your grandfather was an outstanding soldier. He was a hero for the empire. And you-his granddaughter. Back then, I served under General Green myself.”
Thora’s eyes shifted slightly. She sat down again.
She wanted to know why Hugo would use her grandpa’s name just to recruit her. What was his real motive?
Hugo let out a quiet breath of relief when she sat down, though he kept his stern expression.
He knew now he couldn’t treat Thora like a normal kid her age.
If he wanted to talk to her, he had to stand on equal ground.
All he wanted was her trust. So, he stopped hiding anything. He stopped worrying about military secrets and threw out the real offer. “The day I went to the shooting club, I was searching for special talent. People fit for a special operations team.”
