The Apocalyptic Queen's Werewolf Journey (Thora and Darius) novel Chapter 115

Chapter 115 A New Beginning

Third-person POV:

The next day, several students from Class F all called in sick. None of them showed up for school.

The teacher thought something bad had happened and was about to call their homes. Malcolm stopped him with a phone call.

Malcolm told the teacher not to ask questions and get involved in anything related to those students.

The teacher was confused, but he still followed Malcolm’s instructions. He simply taught the lesson as if those students didn’t exist.

Meanwhile, inside the Special Operations Base,

Hugo looked at the group sitting in front of him and had no idea what to say.

“We’ve met each other before. It’s good to see you,” he finally squeezed those words out, sounding stiff and official.

Harvey, Ashton, and Luke nodded.

Only Ashton seemed respectful. Harvey and Luke were polite but clearly just going through the motions.

Still, that was much better than the little girl sitting at the end.

While everyone else sat properly, Shirley was curled up in her chair playing a game on her phone.

She was already petite, and the way she curled up basically made her disappear into the seat.

“Ahem!” Hugo coughed heavily.

If he didn’t know who Shirley was, he would have picked her up and tossed her out.

Shirley didn’t even look up. She stuck her tongue out at him instead.

Hugo nearly jumped to his feet in rage.

Thora called out coldly, “Shirley.”

Shirley instantly sat up straight, folded her hands neatly on her lap, and put on a solemn look.

Hugo was speechless. Did Thora install an on-and-off switch in this girl?

A word from Thora fixed her instantly?

“General Stanton.” Thora nodded calmly, respectful but never submissive. “I’ve brought everyone. I won’t introduce their backgrounds. I believe you already know.”

Hugo nodded and looked at each of them.

“Stand.” Thora ordered.

All six of them rose at once. Their posture was perfect-straight backs, sharp eyes, and strong presence.

It was like a set of bent, rusty wires had suddenly turned into steel bars, unbreakable and firm.

Even Shirley looked powerful, as if her small body held endless strength.

There was no fear in their eyes. No blind loyalty like regular soldiers.

But something else, something stronger. A force that held them tightly together.

Thora rose too, stepping in front of them.

Her expression was serious, her gaze sharp. Her tall frame stood perfectly straight, releasing a sudden, overwhelming pressure.

They were six people with nothing in common. Six people who, on paper, shouldn’t fit together at all. Yet at this moment, Hugo felt something shocking. They were unshakable. A unit. A force he couldn’t break apart.

They were only six people, but even a veteran like Hugo felt their presence hit him like a wave.

He was shocked.

No, something was off. The last time he saw them, they still had a lazy, carefree look. They were nothing like this.

How long had it been? Their energy, their posture-they were already stronger than most new recruits.

Hugo’s eyes moved involuntarily toward Thora. His sharp gaze narrowed, filled with doubt and caution.

Then he raised his voice and declared, “Good. Starting today, you are officially members of the Wolffang Unit! Your direct commander is Thora!”

“But listen! Military ranks must be granted by the empire, and you must earn them with real achievements and hard work! So for now, you’re only soldiers. Soldiers with no rank at all! Every member of the Wolffang Unit begins the same way!”

Rank was an honor given by the empire. Hugo could not change that.

“And you,” Hugo said to Thora, his tone low and firm, “are only a junior officer, even though the Wolffang Unit holds the highest clearance.”

Thora didn’t mind.

Rank and honor should be earned.

Before she became the Apocalypse Commander, she had been nothing more than an ordinary soldier.

Starting over didn’t bother her.

“Remember this,” Hugo continued. “Sector Six and the Wolffang Unit answer to the entire Astralis Empire. You will become the strongest team we have, and your unit will spend the highest budget.
