Chapter 117 He Had It Coming

Third-person POV:

Darius frowned as a wave of alpha pressure burst out of him on instinct.

Who dared to challenge him on his turf?

But the moment he lifted his eyes and saw Thora, that pressure vanished. Surprise and joy flashed across his face.

“Thora?” He stood up, ready to greet her.

Before he could take a step, Thora narrowed her cold eyes and marched toward him with sharp, deadly

energy.

Darius blinked, confused and innocent.

Without a word, Thora shoved him back hard against the floor-to-ceiling window.

Thud! His body hit the glass with a heavy thud.

Darius didn’t even try to fight back. He glanced behind him and was thankful the glass was made of reinforced material. Even a bomb couldn’t break it. Otherwise, he might’ve fallen from this 30-story building like some kind of skydiving stuntman.

Carl, who had rushed over after hearing that Thora had stormed in, froze in dread.

He knew it. He knew Darius’s little stunt would get exposed sooner or later. He just didn’t expect it to happen this fast.

“Ms. Green! Ms. Green- Alpha, he-”

Carl rushed into Darius’s office; he was ready to defend his Alpha. But then he saw Darius pinned to the window by Thora. And his Alpha seemed to be enjoying it?

Carl stood there in shock, unsure if he should step in or quietly sneak away.

Thora shot him a cold, sharp glare.

Carl trembled instantly.

“Out!” Darius ordered, his voice cool.

Carl straightened like a gentleman. He bowed and said, “Yes, Alpha.”

He slipped out and thoughtfully closed the door behind him.

Inside the office, Darius cleared his throat. All the authority he used on Carl was completely gone when he faced Thora.

“Thora, what brings you here? Next time, give me a heads-up before you come. I’ll unlock all your access so you won’t have to kick the door down.” Darius grinned brightly, acting as if he didn’t see the anger burning

in her eyes at all.

Thora tightened her grip on Darius’s collar and let out a cold laugh. “What do you think?”

Because of her sudden pull, their bodies pressed even closer.

Through the fabric, Darius could feel the warmth of her against him.

She didn’t have the scent of the iris on her, but the faint smell on her skin still pulled him in without warning.

His throat moved as he swallowed. His voice came out low and rough.

“Thora, don’t you think we’re standing a little too close? Although we have held the Mating Pact, you’re still young. People might get the wrong idea. If rumors spread, it wouldn’t be good for your reputation.”

He made that advice sound sincere, but to Thora, it was nothing but smooth-talking nonsense.

She knew exactly how to deal with a guy like him-hit first. Think later.

“DARIUS!” she growled, saying his name one word at a time. Her free hand curled into a fist, and she swung hard toward his cheek.

Darius’s sharp brows tightened. He spun quickly, slipping out of her grip with ease. In the same motion, he caught her wrist and pinned it lightly.

“You know, attacking your mate counts as attempted murder,” he said playfully.
