Both of them silently pulled back their wolf power and abilities, choosing to fight with pure hand-to-hand combat instead.
As Thora pushed harder and fought fiercer, Darius raised a brow.
He had finally gotten to see her again; he didn’t want to waste the moment on fighting.
The second that thought crossed his mind, he let her grab his arm.
Then he flipped his hand, caught her arm, and dropped his weight backward.
Thora froze for half a second. Darius’s sudden pull threw her off balance, and she fell with him.
The couch sank deep with a heavy thump as the two of them crashed into it.
Thora’s body landed on top of Darius. Their eyes met. For a moment, it felt strange, but somehow weirdly calm too.
Thora reacted fast. She brought her forearm up across his neck, locking all his movement in place.
Looking at how he just lay there and let her do whatever she wanted, Thora frowned. “You’re letting me win?”
Alarm went off in Darius’s head. He exclaimed, “Thora, you’ve got it wrong! I just don’t want to fight with my
mate.”
The moment she heard the word “mate,” her voice turned even colder. “Darius, my patience has limits.”
A flicker of light flashed in his eyes, and his pupils widened a little. He sounded hurt as he spoke. “But you attacked me the second you came in. I don’t even know why you’re mad at me.”
And just like that, the ice in Thora’s eyes melted a bit, without her noticing.
A tiny, hidden smile tugged at Darius’s eyes, but his face stayed innocent.
“I just want to know,” Thora said, narrowing her gaze, “when did I ever agree to bond with you?!”
Darius blinked in sudden understanding. “Oh, so that’s what this is about.”
Thora stared at him. She would slap him into the wall if he dared give the wrong answer.
“Didn’t that happen two weeks ago?” he said, frowning slightly.
“And didn’t you already agree to it at the party? Everyone knows about it anyway. We’d have to hold that ceremony eventually. Might as well make it official now. That way it saves us trouble.”
Darius looked completely serious, as if everything he said was the truth.
Thora honestly felt like strangling him right then.

Chapter 118 A Dangerous Close Call
Finished
They had clearly agreed to a mating pact, nothing more. They should break off the pact once the storm has passed!
She had faced many opponents in her life.
But she had never-ever-met a man as shameless as Darius. He had truly opened her eyes to a whole new level of trouble.
With a quick twist of her wrist, the bracelet on Thora’s arm changed into a handgun. She pressed the cold barrel against Darius’s forehead. “You really think I won’t pull the trigger? Or do you think I can’t?” she asked.
The icy metal sensation made Darius tilt his head back a little. He wasn’t scared, but his voice was steady and serious. “I know you can kill me.”
He couldn’t feel any wolf power coming from her, but he knew she was hiding abilities far stronger than what she showed.
Otherwise, she never would’ve escaped those Greywolf mercenaries with high-level wolf spirits. This girl even turned the fight around on them.
Whatever her hidden power was, if she didn’t want to reveal it, he wouldn’t pry.
That was his respect for her.
Because of his calm and honest answer, the killing intent in Thora’s eyes faded just a little.
He didn’t look down on her. He didn’t treat her anger like a joke. That strange, steady respect cooled part of her rage.
Thora sat on top of him, staring down at him.
“Darius, do you know how much I hate being played with?”
But Darius stayed calm, meeting her eyes steadily. “You’re pointing the love token I gave you at my head. Do you think that’s a good idea, Thora?”
He was smiling, but his eyes were so quiet and dark that it sent a/chill down Thora’s spine.
Thora fixed her eyes on him. “A love token? A gun?”
She let out a short, cold laugh. “Do you want to try what it feels like to get your head blasted by the gun you designed?”
Darius pressed his lips together, staring at her. He didn’t say anything. He even looked a little hurt.
Thora’s gaze shifted slightly. Her anger, which had been burning hot enough to explode, dropped sharply.
Wait. Dropped?
