Chapter 225 Too Late
In a close-range fight, a gun wasn’t very useful.
Thora dropped her handgun and put it away.
She pushed off the ground, leapt upward, and landed squarely on one man’s head. Then she kicked him so hard he flew backward and crashed onto the pavement.
The others showed a flicker of surprise, then rushed at her.
Thora flipped in the air, dropped down on one knee to absorb the force, and landed steady.
At the same time, the man she’d kicked actually got back up.
A cold sharpness flashed in her eyes. A faint blue wolf power spread over her skin. She pushed off the ground with one hand and launched herself straight into the group.
She grabbed one man and punched his forehead. His eyes went blank instantly.
Thora swung his body like a shield, forcing the others to back away from her strength.
When they tried to charge again, she kicked the man she was holding in the stomach. His body shot out like a cannonball and slammed into the rest of them.
He passed out on the spot, his condition unclear.
Thora let out a short, cold laugh. But then she froze—she felt a chill rush past her ear.
She twisted her body in time. A blade-sharp attack sliced through the air where her head had been.
Following the icy breeze, she looked up at a masked man standing across from her-clearly ⚫ their leader.
In front of him, dozens of ice spikes hovered, sharp as knives and ready to launch.
“An ability user,” Thora said, calling it out directly.
“So
you
know about ability users? Too bad you learned too late.” His voice came from behind the mask, dark and cold. “Hand over the key, and maybe I won’t kill you.”
Thora frowned. So they really were after that stone.

Are they the ones behind Laurel?

“Sorry. I’m not giving you the key. And the one dying today will be you,” Thora said calmly, like she was stating a fact.
“Hmph! Don’t push your luck!”
The moment he finished speaking, the ice spikes shot toward her like a storm.
Thora stayed completely calm. As they came at her, a flash of blue light flickered in her eyes.
Since he was a werewolf with awakened abilities, she didn’t need to hide hers anymore.
A blue wall of fire appeared in front of her. Every ice spike melted away in seconds.
Everyone stared in shock-especially the masked leader.
“No way.
Are you also…”
Thora ignored his shock and was about to launch her attack with both her ability and wolf power when…
Bang!
A gunshot cut through the air.
The masked leader dropped instantly. A hole tore open in his leg, and all his power vanished as he collapsed, unable to move.
The force of that bullet said enough.
Thora frowned. That gunshot didn’t sound like anything from the weapons she had heard over the last two years.
Just then, a small squad in strange tactical gear aimed their guns at the attackers and moved in.
Thora kept her hand on her handgun at first, but she quickly realized they weren’t here to attack her. They were protecting her.
One of the masked men tried to run, but another shot hit him. He screamed, and his wolf power shattered.
The rest froze, staring at the squad with fear and confusion.
The squad’s gear was high-end, nothing like normal military equipment. Their guns were specially modified-designed to counter werewolves with awakened abilities.
Thora knew right away they weren’t soldiers. They weren’t mercenaries either. They didn’t have the killing aura, and the gear wasn’t standard-issue.
