The Apocalyptic Queen's Werewolf Journey (Thora and Darius) novel Chapter 319

Chapter 319 Mission Failed

A faint smile tugged at Darius’s thin lips.

Thora really had a way of pulling attention to herself.

It made him love her and hate it at the same time.

But she was meant to stand out. She deserved to be followed, even trusted.

A treasure like her shouldn’t ever be left forgotten.

To Darius, if she was going to charge ahead, he was more than willing to clear the sharp paths for her and make sure she came back safe.

He liked her energy. He liked watching her shine in those rare, unforgettable moments.

But…

Darius’s expression turned stiff and cold.

Jealousy was another matter entirely.

Why were those idiots always crowding around Thora? It seriously annoyed him.

After finishing her shower and changing into clean clothes, Thora suddenly felt a chill crawl up her spine. Confused, she glanced toward the window, walked over, and shut it without hesitation.

The window slammed shut, blocking the view outside. The faint figure across the way vanished completely.

Darius’s eyes flickered. Under the silver mask, his facial muscles twitched slightly. Then he smiled and lifted a hand to touch the mask. If he didn’t have to pretend to be that annoying guy, he could storm straight into Thora’s room, scoop her up, and kiss her.

“Tsk…” He clicked his tongue in frustration.

After her shower, Thora reapplied medicine to her injuries to speed up healing.

All the supplies had been prepared by the academy in advance-one of the small perks after the assessment.

Once she was done, she climbed into bed and fell asleep.

Like most of the other candidates, what she needed most was rest to replenish her sleep and energy. Sleeping on a bug-filled island wasn’t exactly comfortable for anyone.

She hadn’t been asleep for long when Shirley knocked on her door.

“Thora… I’m scared to sleep alone…”

Clutching the teddy bear she’d carried for years, Shirley stumbled groggily to the side of Thora’s bed and flopped down, fast asleep.

Thora shook her head helplessly, got up to close the door, and returned to bed.

Chapter 319 Mission Failed

Before falling asleep again, she tugged the blanket over and covered Shirley.

She was already used to that.

Shirley still had a childlike nature and was always uneasy and afraid in unfamiliar environments.

Even during those two years they spent on missions, nothing had changed.

Whenever they were somewhere new, Shirley would stick close to Thora-either sleeping beside her or curling up nearby.

Later, at the villa, Thora once heard Darius mention that Shirley’s fear likely came from being kidnapped as a child. That trauma made her cling tightly to people she trusted.

Now, Shirley hugged her teddy bear and slept peacefully beside Thora’s bed. Her small body curled up like a gentle kitten.

Meanwhile, after the candidates checked into the hotel, three young men in dark blue military uniforms stepped into Valen’s temporary office.

They all wore the same insignia on their chest-the emblem of Blue Star Military Academy.

Their footsteps matched perfectly. When they reached Valen, they snapped to attention and saluted together.

Valen looked up at them, admiration clear in his eyes.

He stood and returned the salute before gesturing for them to sit. “We’re not on campus, and it’s not class time. Relax. No need to be so stiff.”

Valen was strict, but he wasn’t unreasonable.

It was obvious he treated those three differently. That was how he dealt with elites.

All three were top students at Blue Star Military Academy, ranking near the top in every subject.

Roxen stood out the most. He came from the academy’s highest Command Institute, ranked second in his department and third across the entire academy.

A talent like that was precious to any instructor, and Valen was no different.

What surprised him was that Roxen had volunteered for this freshman admission mission.

Roxen shook his head, his face serious. “Those who fail don’t deserve to sit.”

Valen frowned slightly.
