After taking Hazel outside for some fresh air, Laurel and Norman were chatting and laughing when Laurel’s expression suddenly changed. She quickly fixed her face and said casually, “You two go ahead. I just remembered I need to pick up a few things. I’ll stop by the nearby supermarket.”

Norman and Hazel didn’t think anything of it and left first.

Laurel watched them walk away, breathed out slowly, and then headed in a different direction.

She looked around carefully. Seeing no one close by, she slipped under a shaded awning outside a supermarket.

Someone was already waiting there.

The man looked ordinary-just another person in the crowd.

But if you looked closely, you could see he was wearing a fake wig, hiding his real face.

“What do you want from me?” Laurel asked, her voice low and tense.

He let out a cold chuckle. “After all this time, Mrs. Green, it seems you’ve been living a comfortable life. You even forgot your promise, huh?”

Laurel’s face tightened. Fear flashed in her eyes.

He continued, “Back then, if we hadn’t stepped in, do you really think your sloppy schemes could’ve avoided Marlon and Evren’s investigation?”

Evren Talon was Thora’s maternal grandfather, Diane’s father.

“Stop it!” Laurel panicked, glancing around to make sure no one was listening.

The man’s smile was icy. He looked at her like she was a trapped lab mouse.

“These years, we were busy with other things. We didn’t have time to deal with you. Did you really think you could just sit back and do nothing, comfortably holding the position of Mrs. Green?”

Laurel’s face darkened. She tried to keep her voice steady. “I’ve completed the bonding ceremony with Norman. I’m the legitimate Mrs. Green. Don’t think you can scare me.”

He sneered, “The legitimate Mrs. Green? Want to bet that tomorrow’s Starlance City news will say you tried to kill the original wife of the Silverleaf Pack on purpose?”

Laurel felt panic hit her. “You-!” she cut the word short, scared a stranger might hear.

The man looked pleased. “Do what we tell you and you’ll stay Mrs. Green. All those little dirty secrets-like your young lover-won’t reach Norman. If you don’t, I can take everything from you in an instant.”

Laurel’s face went hard. She stared at him.

She had thought, after all these years, they’d forgotten. But she never imagined they would come back.

No!

She wasn’t giving up what she had now. She would not return to being a poor Omega with nothing.

Her breath shook. “I… I understand.”

“Good. You finally listen-makes all the effort we spent covering up those traces worth it.”

His voice turned cold. “Listen, we want that key. It’s in Marlon’s hand.”

Laurel frowned and asked, “If you’re so capable, why don’t you take it yourselves?”

His eyes went sharp. “You don’t need to know why. You only need to do as we say. Marlon’s key will pass to the Silverleaf Pack heir. So, if you and your daughter take the pack’s succession, the key will end up with you.”

Laurel had no choice but to nod. “Understood.”

“Go.” At last, he let her leave.

Laurel stood up, looked around quickly, and hurried off.

As she ran, the man’s eyes turned back.

He wanted to grab that key from Marlon himself, but it wasn’t easy.
