Chapter 151 No-Loss Game

Garfield was Dark Gold-tier. No matter what he understood or gained, he would never truly lose.

At that moment, both of them started coughing up blood at the same time.

“System Alert: Your heart has shifted position. Blood vessels are misaligned. Severe bleeding detected. If you do not keep this heart, you will not gain its ability.”

“Nighthowl, heal me!” Joanna shouted.

She did not care about gaining the ability. She just had to die later than Garfield.

At the same time, Garfield was also vomiting blood. But he did not heal himself at all. Blood ran from the corner of his mouth as he looked at Joanna and smiled, cruel and confident.

Then-bang-he collapsed onto the ground. His body shattered and turned into a substitute

scarecrow.

A second later, Garfield reappeared about 3,000 feet away. He strolled back slowly, relaxed and smug, waiting for Joanna to bleed out and die. Waiting for his victory.

What he did not know was that, by pure chance, Joanna also had a Substitute Scarecrow.

When she saw his body disappear and the scarecrow left behind, she understood everything at

once.

At this point, she could have ordered Nighthowl to kill him directly. The trade between them was already over.

But she didn’t.

“Stop healing me!” Joanna said calmly. “Let me die too. I also have a Substitute Scarecrow.”

Nighthowl froze for a moment, then stopped the healing spell.

Soon, another system message appeared.

“You have died. Activate Substitute Scarecrow?”

“Yes.”

The next second, Joanna revived as well.

Right then, another system alert came through.

“The merchant Garfield involved in your trade has died. Your Symbiotic Link (Dark Gold-tier) has been restored.”

“Garfield activated skill: Capital Preservation (Dark Gold-tier). He additionally comprehended a lower-tier skill: Symbiotic Link (Gold-tier).

“According to the principle of fairness, you have comprehended a lower-tier skill: No-Loss Principle (Gold-tier).”

What the heck?

Even Joanna couldn’t tell whether she had gained or lost.

Garfield had a Symbiotic Link, but he wasn’t a Summoner. He had no summoned beast. What use was that skill to him?

Sure, he could contract a pet someday.

But on the other hand, Joanna now had the No-Loss Principle (Gold-tier). And that fit perfectly with the plans she had coming next. When that time came, it would be hard to say whether Garfield would regret this.

All things considered, Garfield thought he didn’t lose.

Joanna also felt she didn’t lose.

Wasn’t that exactly what No-Loss Principle meant?

Hiss!

Rule-based skills really were the strangest. And the most dangerous to touch.

At that moment, Garfield and Joanna were both returned to the center of the arena.

“You didn’t die?” Garfield said, staring at the ground. He saw two Substitute Scarecrows and instantly understood. Joanna had bought one too.

Garfield smiled with renewed confidence.

“Doesn’t matter. I’ve got more than ten of those,” he said lightly. “I’ll play with you. Let’s see how many rounds you can last.”

Meanwhile, in the spectator stands, everyone had heard what Garfield said.

All eyes turned to Katherine, especially those who had lost their bets. Their expressions were cold and threatening.

“So you were playing us?” someone sneered. “You and Joanna set this up to scam us?”

Katherine was clearly someone who could handle pressure. She widened her eyes and snapped back. “Played you?” she shot back. “You all bet on yourselves too. Joanna never bet on herself. I’m the dealer. I can’t bet on her to win?”

She crossed her arms. “And you chose to gamble. If you lose, you accept it. What does it matter if I know Joanna or not?”

Then she added, “You lost because you’re weaker than her.”

That last line hit hard.

Perry spoke in a dark, eerie tone. “Joanna may be strong, but you’re not. Want to step into the arena with me?”

Crispin laughed coldly. “She got all the benefits. What did you get? You’re just her lackey. If you make enemies of us, we’ll make sure your lives are difficult.”
