“No one else has spent as much time with Joanna as I have,” Nighthowl declared, a touch of pride in his voice.
Alwyn offered a gentle smile. “Just being able to stay together for so long is enough for me.”
Lucien shot Nighthowl a glare and huffed, “Maybe you’ve had her the longest, but from now on, you’ll have to share with the rest of us. The Queen isn’t yours alone!”
“Alright, enough! Let’s stay on track,” Joanna interjected, stepping in as the peacemaker.
With so many fuzzy companions, squabbles were inevitable.
Xavier, ever the calm one, was silent as the digital crown above his head flickered. Suddenly, his eyes brightened.
“Maybe I’ve found the answer for our next sentinel.”
A virtual file shimmered into view.
Joanna blinked in surprise. “There’s a spirit form like this?”
The file displayed a single word: Broodsoil.
It wasn’t animal or plant. It was soil.
But the more she thought about it, the more sense it made.
Xavier explained, “It’s a unique spirit form-broodsoil. It can nurture any plant, bear fruit, even foster new life.
“Plants grown in broodsoil eventually awaken their own sentience. Isn’t that the essence of fertility?
“Plus, it’s an earth element, which matches your needs, Joanna.
“The only catch is, the mutated broodsoil spirit is personal property in the interstellar universe, just like Alwyn’s situation.”
Alwyn spoke up, his tone soft. “When you saved me, Joanna, I was just grateful. Once mutated, I lost my rights and became a sun, lighting three artificial planets. broodsoil’s fate is probably the
same.
“The challenge is, now that the interstellar universe and Nightstar Group are allies, diplomacy is delicate. Getting them to give up broodsoil might cost us.”

“If money can solve it, it’s not a real problem,” Lucien declared, confidence in his voice.
“The real trouble,” Caspian murmured, “is when money isn’t enough.”

“Mutated Sentinel File:
“Name: Pierre Humboldt.
“Spirit Form: broodsoil (SSS, currently mutated, status uncertain)
“Formerly: Deputy Director, Interstellar Black Star Empire Research Institute; pioneer in natural food improvement.
“Mutated at age twenty-eight. Afterward, traveled to the SW9 Galaxy and chose a planet with a natural environment to await death. The planet had atmosphere, temperate climate, dry ice, but mostly rocky ground.
“Within a year, life emerged on the planet.
“The old Helanese noble family acquired the world, began growing natural foods, and became exclusive suppliers for Guides. Their business thrived.
“Currently, Pierre’s whereabouts are unknown.
“However, some sentinels report the soil often migrates and even shifts shape.”
That was all the data available.
Joanna wasted no time contacting the Helanese family.
The family’s patriarch, Felixico Helanese, had been assigned the Blade Assassin class after receiving the Space Alliance system. His combat ability ranked at least Sage-tier, though he now had to start leveling from scratch. He’d already reached level 45-impressive speed for the Space Alliance.
When Felixico learned Joanna wanted broodsoil, he immediately called an emergenc meeting, then arranged to speak with her personally.
They met soon after.
Felixico looked aged and frail, but his authority filled the room.
He spoke first, voice steady. “It’s an honor to speak with the Chief Summoner. I hope you’ll reserve a contract slot for the Helanese family”

Joanna didn’t hesitate.
“That’s not reasonable. You only have stewardship over a planet-Professor Humboldt just happens to be there.
“Under the joint laws of the Space Alliance and the Interstellar Alliance, even mutated sentinels have rights.
“I reached out to minimize your loss, but I could simply use a summoning circle and leave you with nothing. So let’s strike a fair deal. For example, I can help you gain control of a natural planet in the Space Alliance. I could make you a Starlord.”
She knew this was the fairest exchange.
It would be easy to arrange.
Helen owned so many dimensions, and natural planets were plentiful. Buying a spot and giving someone the title of Starlord was simple.
Joanna would cover the cost, Helen would handle the logistics, and the Helanese family would finally have a foothold in the Space Alliance.
Everyone benefited.
Joanna’s sincerity was clear.
The Helanese family discussed privately, then returned with a decision.
“Agreed,” Felixico said, “but I have one more condition.”
“The last time you contracted a legendary space janitor, your pheromones disrupted our entire region.
“So, if you won’t give us a contract slot, can you at least help free our family’s elder from
mutation?”
Joanna was caught off guard.
In truth, her influence stretched far beyond Benjamin.
Ever since she’d contracted Xavier, the news had already spread.
