At the entrance, the taxi they had called was already waiting. Joanna did not waste a single second. She got into the car with Nighthowl and Alwyn and left right away.
Only after the three of them were completely gone did Byron start cursing under his breath.
“Joanna is getting way too arrogant,” he said angrily. “So what, she puts on the Spider Lady’s gown and suddenly thinks she’s the Black Widow? And haven’t you noticed? She doesn’t even look as pretty as before. Her attribution points are clearly lower. She’s just a lousy summoner. That class falls off hard later on. She’s way too full of herself.”
A classmate beside him spoke quietly, clearly nervous. “You should really stop talking. Aren’t you afraid she’ll challenge you to a duel?”
Byron snorted. “She wouldn’t go that far, would she? She’s a big-shot Summoner now, sure, but why would she bully a life-skill player like me? And just because she says she has nothing to do with Kayden, does that make it true? Didn’t Kayden come back today? Fine. I’ll go tell Kayden where she is.”
The taxi moved smoothly through the city streets. Along the way, Joanna pointed out the major buildings to Alwyn, explaining what each place was used for. When he asked questions, she answered patiently, one by one.
Just then, a loud roar tore through the sky. A flashy, high-end hovercraft streaked past above them, racing through the air like it was showing off. It was so loud and eye-catching that it felt like the whole street shook.
Joanna’s expression changed instantly.
That kind of luxury hovercraft cost well over a hundred million. It could even be used inside public dungeons. In Violetlight City, only a handful of people owned something like that.
Joanna knew exactly who it belonged to.
Kayden.
This guy was the top rich kid at Trinity High. Both of his parents were level-40 professionals, and they ran powerful companies under a massive group. In Violetlight City, their family was a force no one dared to ignore.
Even so, Kayden himself had only awakened a C-rank talent. Despite that, his parents still sent him to Genesis High.

That was when everything started. During a joint assessment, Kayden saw Joanna for the first time. From that moment on, he began chasing her like crazy. He even transferred from Genesis High to Trinity High just to be closer to her.
Joanna never accepted him. The very first time they met, Kayden had his arm around another girl when he confessed to Joanna.
She rejected him without hesitation.
“I have no intention of sharing a man with another woman,” she said coldly.
Kayden laughed back then and replied without shame, “If you agree to be with me, I’ll dump her. She’s nowhere near as pretty as you. But if you won’t agree, I can’t go without women around me. That would make me look bad.”
The girl in his arms forced a smile, clearly embarrassed. Joanna’s face turned darker than it ever had before.
In the end, Lucas and the others stepped in and blocked Kayden. Only then was Joanna able to leave safely.
From that day on, Joanna always stayed with her teammates at school. Kayden likely held back because all of them had S-rank talents and had promising futures. He did not want to offend them outright.
Still, every time Kayden saw Joanna, his eyes would roam over her without restraint. Back then, Joanna did not have a summoned beast yet. She also did not want to provoke someone whose parents were level-40 professionals. Because of this, Joanna endured it again and again.
There was only one exception. Once, Kayden found an opening and blocked her path.
What he did not expect was that Joanna fought back on the spot. Kayden was a warrior, but he could not defeat Joanna, a summoner with no summoned beast.
Joanna’s combat skills were terrifyingly strong.
Unless she was beaten to death, she would keep fighting until the very end.
That incident truly angered Kayden. It also made him realize how weak he was. Ever since he learned he only had a C-rank talent, he had stopped taking training seriously. His parents, seeing his lack of effort, had slowly given up on him. The next year, they even decided to have another child.
Still, they had raised Kayden for eighteen years. When he suddenly said he wanted to grow stronger, his parents were willing to support him.
They spent tens of millions to get him a full set of Silver-tier gear. They also hired a group of

Level 25 professionals to take him into public dungeon zones to power-level him.
Since public dungeons required players to stay inside for a fixed amount of time each run, Kayden missed the final assessment altogether.
More importantly, his team was made up entirely of rich kids like himself. It was a team that had always slacked off together. Skipping the final assessment was their way of saving face.
And now, that jerk had returned.
Joanna’s gaze grew deep and cold.
“The public dungeon he went to was probably Demon Abyss,” she said quietly.
Demon Abyss. Recommended Level: 10-25
There was an upper limit because the teleport crystals that opened dungeon worlds had limited energy. They could only send in players up to level 25.
This rule also prevented high-level professionals from farming low-level resources endlessly and crushing weaker players.
