The Battle Queen They Blindly Kicked Out (Joanna) novel Chapter 62

Chapter 62 The Open Challenge

“What’s going on? You covered all of your skin. I don’t like it. Take that hat off.”

Kayden lifted his hand, reaching for Joanna’s hat.

This time. Joanna reacted fast. She raised her whip. Cardinal’s Edict bent in the air, blocking Kayden’s rude hand before it could touch her.

“Gear is for fighting.” Joanna said calmly. “I’m going to run a dungeon. I don’t have time to chat with you.”

Kayden had no intention of letting her leave. Sometimes, he enjoyed messing with Joanna. He liked watching her struggle but couldn’t do anything to him.

“What’s the matter?” he said with a grin and stepped closer. “You can’t even stay and chat with me?” Before he could get near, Nighthowl and Alwyn both moved forward. They stood in front of Joanna, blocking Kayden.

Kayden’s face darkened. He covered his nose and sneered in contempt. “What’s that smell? It smell awful. Oh, right. Summoned beasts. Disgusting.”

He laughed coldly. “Joanna, is this why you won’t talk to me? Because of these two stinking summoned beasts? I heard you’d gotten famous lately. All because of them, right?

“If I kill them, what would you do?”

He suddenly let out a broad grin.

“Before, you didn’t care about anything. You had no weakness. But now? If I kill your summoned beasts, you’ll care, won’t you?

“So? Want to stay and talk with me?”

Joanna suddenly let out a cold laugh.

“Kayden, it looks like you haven’t been beaten enough. Fine. Let’s do an arena challenge.” She met his eyes without fear. “If you lose, you are not allowed to bother me before the SAT. If I lose, you can do whatever you want to me.”

“Really?” Kayden’s eyes lit up.

He was already level 13. Even the best students at Genesis High were around that level.

Kayden also wore a full set of Silver-tier gear and had learned four Gold-tier skills.

Joanna couldn’t possibly beat him.

As for her summoned beasts?

Useless. He had a charge skill. Once he got close to Joanna, her attributes wouldn’t survive his attack.

“Fine,” Kayden said confidently. “We sign a contract. I don’t trust you not to back out.”

Joanna nodded without hesitation. They signed the contract and submitted it to the system.

Suddenly, Joanna added. “Oh? I accidentally added an extra number to the penalty. Is that okay for you? Whatever, it’s 100 points. I won’t lose to you anyway.”

Kayden found it hilarious. Just because she had two Silver-tier items, she thought she couldn’t lose?

He had multiple gold-tier skills. Why would he lose?

“Fine. I’ll bet 100 points.”

He submitted his contract.

At once, strange dungeon energy spread around them.

In a flash, both of them vanished. They were pulled into a dual dungeon.

High in the air, about 30 feet above the ground, huge projections appeared. They showed Joanna, Kayden, and the arena around them.

That was why it was called an open challenge. Everything was public. Everyone could see.

This was Joanna’s first time inside an arena dungeon. The place looked like a coliseum. Since both fighters were only around Level 10, the battlefield was about the size of a school sports field.

Joanna looked at Kayden, standing about 100 feet away. The countdown began: 10 seconds.

She sent a command through her mind.

Nighthowl, Alwyn, hold back. Don’t hit too hard. Stand in front and block him, but don’t completely. Understand?

They didn’t fully understand, but they knew she wanted to confuse the enemy.
