“What’s wrong with me stepping in?” Cedric sneered. “Even if Joanna had done the contract herself back then, she still wouldn’t have gotten a mythic-level companion this good. She should be thanking us. And don’t act innocent, Bruce. You’re helping Joanna now? Don’t forget, you messed up her summoning circle too. Twice. She took the best care of you, after all.”

Cedric laughed coldly. His words felt like a knife, stabbing straight into Bruce’s chest.

Bruce shut his eyes in pain. His face twisted, and he said nothing.

Just as the argument was about to explode; Neil frowned and cut in.

“That’s enough. We’ve all done things like this. Don’t mock each other. And this stays us. Keep it buried. Do you really think telling the truth would help her?”

He paused, then continued in a low voice.

“If this gets out, we’ll be cursed even worse than we are now. What matters is how we get out of this mess.

“Our SAT scores failed. Next year, we have to repeat. To become non-student workers, it’ll cost one million. And if the Amshien Group finds out we’re tied to Kayden, they might cancel our

contract.

“So we release a statement. We push everything onto Kayden.”

He turned to Bruce. “Bruce, sell the Traitor’s Blade. Buy Joanna some gifts. Something nice. We apologize to her publicly. We admit we were wrong this time.”

He went on, his voice growing more confident.

“Rhoda already left the team. If we can sweet-talk Joanna back, convince her to delay college, and take the exam with us next year, we might hit a Chromatic Star result.”

Neil believed he was the smartest one on the team. He liked to plan ahead. He liked to calculate every move. Most of all, he liked to pressure people and control them.

After all, he held the power of life and death in the group.

He was the healer.

That was why he spoke with such confidence. That was why he sounded so bold.

The others’ eyes began to shine.

Chapter 91 The Shocking Truth

Deep down, they knew Joanna probably would not agree. But what if she did?

Before, Joanna always said she wanted to go to college. She wanted to grow stronger. She wanted to improve herself. Now she was already powerful. Her strength no longer held her back. So maybe she wanted love instead. Maybe she could finally accept them.

She had always taken care of them before. She always put them first.

What was wrong with giving up college for one year? She could take the test again next year.

Then they could all go to college together.

The dream Neil painted was too sweet to resist.

Lucas nodded right away.

“Send the message.”

The others lowered their heads and started typing.

They had no idea.

Outside the door, a pair of beautiful eyes was filled with shock.

Rhoda had been standing there for a long time.

The SAT was over. Grade 12 students were basically done. The dorms would only let them stay for three more days.

But Rhoda already wanted to leave. She didn’t know why, but these two rooms felt unlucky. No one had lived here for a long time. The air smelled damp and moldy.

Bruce was still a lunatic. Even when Rhoda was in her room, he wouldn’t let her use a robot.

The worst part was the clothes. None of them washed their own. They dumped everything on her. The room across the balcony was never cleaned. The smell was so bad she could catch it from far away.

She couldn’t stand it. Not even for one more day.

Earlier, Cedric had punched the door and cracked it. Rhoda almost yelled at him. Then Bruce suddenly shouted, and she froze. That was when she heard everything. So that was the truth.

Joanna couldn’t contract a summoned beast because of them.

Were they crazy?
