The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 242

Fiona just felt her heart ache.

“I thought Catherine marrying Lance and joining our family would give her a fresh start, maybe even change her whole life. Who could have guessed it would be the start of her troubles instead?”

“I need to find a chance to meet the Main Family. I don’t care if I have to swallow my pride. I want to help Catherine find a way out of all this.”

Sophia walked Fiona back to her room and tried to comfort her before heading off to her own. As soon as she closed her bedroom door, she sent Catherine the video she had just recorded.

[Catherine, Grandpa and Grandma know how much you’ve been through. The Green family actually came over to apologize. Adelina wouldn’t stop crying, making it look like we were the ones bullying her. Even Lance was pissed…]

Sophia sent the video because she felt the James family owed Catherine an apology. After all, Adelina only started all this drama because of Lance.

Catherine had been up late again, helping Lorinda with her livestreams, always sticking around until the end. By the time she saw Sophia’s message, it was almost noon.

[Please thank Grandpa and Grandma for me. I really appreciate it.]

That was all Catherine could say to Ableson, Fiona, and Sophia. She didn’t know what else was left. Their relationship was complicated. There was real care between them, but they all kept a careful distance. Catherine was grateful, but she couldn’t help feeling like she’d let them down.

Now, things had gotten so messy that it didn’t even matter who was right or wrong. Catherine and the Green family were never going to see eye to eye again. Leaving was becoming more urgent by the day. She just had no idea when the company would finally make a decision.

“You’re pregnant, you know. Stop staying up late with me,” Lorinda said, wandering into Catherine’s room after she woke up. She lifted the blanket and climbed into bed, wrapping her arms around Catherine. “You should really get some sleep tonight.”

Catherine put down her phone. “I just want to help out where I can.”

Lorinda hadn’t hired anyone to help with her streams, trying to save money. She was doing twice the work, always busy and exhausted. Catherine really had been a lifesaver.

She took her phone back and sent Lance a message, asking to meet. Her week-long suspension was finally over.

Lance replied, telling her to meet him at the hospital at three, in a VIP room on the top floor.

“What’s going on? Did Adelina drive him so crazy he ended up in the hospital?” Lorinda tried to guess.

Lance was always the calm, steady type. Adelina was spoiled and dramatic. Every time they fought, it was always Lance who gave in first.

“I have no idea,” Catherine said, tossing her phone aside. Maybe Adelina really had pushed Lance to the edge, but it seemed unlikely it would be bad enough to put him in the hospital.

Even so, Catherine decided to pick up a fruit basket on her way there, just to be polite. But when she walked into the hospital room and saw Adelina sitting on the bed, she wished she could toss the whole fruit basket in the trash.
