The Betrayed Princess Rising (Lylah and Ezra) novel Chapter 430

Chapter 430

Lylah’s POV

Midnight cloaked Lunaris when we finally arrived at City Hall to collect Tiara’s mating license. The towering marble building stood quiet beneath the moonlight, its tall windows glowing faintly against the darkened streets while cold wind drifted through the stone courtyard.

The moment I stepped through those familiar doors, memories rose so vividly they almost ached.

That night.

The night Ezra and I stood here ourselves.

There had been no ceremony before that. No white gown. No flowers woven beneath sacred moonlight. Only silence and uncertainty.

Back then, Damon had been the one escorting us through these halls. That memory still lived inside me like something carefully preserved beneath glass.

“The administrators should still be inside,” I told Tiara softly as we walked deeper into the hall. “You don’t need to be nervous. They’re so kind. They helped me a lot back then too.”

Tiara exhaled dramatically beside me, clearly unconvinced.

Then suddenly,

The sharp instinct of my wolf stirred.

Four sets of footsteps halted almost simultaneously.

I looked up.

And froze.

Another couple had just stepped through the opposite corridor.

Rowan and Cora.

For one suspended second, the entire hall fell deathly still beneath the glow of the chandeliers overhead.

“You…” Cora’s gaze drifted downward briefly before lifting toward Damon standing beside Tiara. Something unreadable passed through her expression. “So the rumors were true. My friend said Blackfang has been flooded with gossip about your pregnancy, Tiara Ashcroft,” Cora said carefully. “And it’s Beta Damon’s child?”

Her voice softened strangely afterward.

“You’re really becoming Moonclaw’s Lady…”

For a fleeting second, envy flashed openly across her features before pity quickly smoothed over it.

“Oh, Tiara,” Cora murmured. “That must feel overwhelming considering where you came from.”

A low growl nearly escaped Damon.

The sound vibrated deep within his chest-dangerous enough that even the lights overhead seemed to hum faintly beneath the pressure of his wolf.

But Tiara only smiled.

“That is none of your damn business.” She said calmly. “Instead of worrying about us, maybe focus on your own problems first.”
