The Billionaire Heir Fell for the Wrong Girl (Hathaway Whitmore) novel Chapter 188

Chapter 188 No Boundaries Crossed

Jessica was just annoyed at first, but when she realized the background wasn’t a hotel room and caught sight of Jeremiah’s favorite books on the nightstand, it hit her. This was his private home. Her anger spiked to the max.

That meant Jeremiah had actually brought someone else into his sanctuary, the place that belonged only to him, and now, he’d let another woman in.

Jessica couldn’t focus on work. She held it in for a few days, but in the end, she just couldn’t take it anymore and called Victor.

Victor paused for a moment when he saw Jessica’s call. After hearing her out, he kept his tone formal, “Ms. Kingsley, I really don’t know anything about this. It’s not our place as staff to meddle in Mr. Blackwood’s private life.”

Jessica’s chest tightened as she pressed, “Where is Jeremiah today?”

Victor weighed his words before responding, keeping things strictly professional. “Ms. Kingsley, Mr. Blackwood is on a business trip. He’s out of town for now.”

That half-hearted lie did nothing to calm Jessica down. Her heart was flooded with bitterness and resentment, and she lost all sense of reason.

That night, not caring about anything else, she drove straight to Jeremiah’s home.

Eleanor was surprised to see Jessica show up out of the blue. “What brings you here? Jeremiah moved out ages ago. He’s been living at Inkwell Manor ever since.”

Eleanor’s tone was tinged with doubt. “Are you telling me he didn’t say anything?”

Back when Jessica was in the hospital, Jeremiah was by her side every single day.

Didn’t he stay with her all the time back then?

Jeremiah even asked Zara to cook porridge just for Jessica.

Jessica froze for a moment, but quickly regained her composure. The Kingsley family was still relying on Jeremiah’s influence and reputation to keep Keats Enterprises going. She couldn’t risk anyone finding out about their breakup right now.

She quickly composed herself, pushing down the ache inside and covering it with a gentle smile.

“Eleanor, he actually told me a while back. It’s just that ever since the accident, my memory’s been a mess. I came here out of habit without even thinking. And how have you been feeling lately?”

“I’m doing just fine,” Eleanor replied warmly, then asked casually, “How are you feeling these days? Are you still involved with that charity work you used to manage?”

Jessica kept it brief, exchanging a few polite words before moving on.

She didn’t stick around. After saying goodbye to Eleanor, she turned her car around and headed straight for Inkwell Manor, where Jeremiah lived alone.

The whole mansion was eerily quiet.

Jessica tried calling Jeremiah, but he didn’t pick up.

She guessed he must not be home yet.

So she ended up waiting outside.

Jeremiah didn’t get back until eleven that night, finally done with all his social obligations. He slid out of the car, looking exhausted.

The moment Jessica saw him, all the hurt, pain, and resentment she’d bottled up for so long crashed over her. Her eyes went red, tears brimming as she blinked them back, refusing to let them fall.

She stared at the man before her, his expression icy and unreadable, her voice trembling as she said, “Jeremiah, for three years, you always protected me, always stood up for me. Was it really just because I failed to save you back then? Is that why you want to end things with me?”

She lifted her chin, struggling to hold back the tears that threatened to fall.

Victor sat in the car, overhearing everything, and could only think, ‘What the hell?’

Jessica’s voice trembled as she asked, “Did we really never love each other?”

“Is it because I lied to you, or is there really someone else you care about now?”

“Who is she? Just tell me, so I can finally move on.”

As Jessica reached out to him, Jeremiah angled his body away just a bit, but caught her by her slender shoulders, steadying her. He simply said, “I’ll have someone take you home.”
