The Billionaire Heir Fell for the Wrong Girl (Hathaway Whitmore) novel Chapter 194

Chapter 194 Whatever

Early the next morning, a swarm of gossip reporters had already gathered outside the Blackwood Group building, cameras and microphones in hand, all hoping to get the first scoop. But when Jeremiah showed up, his bodyguards calmly blocked them off.

The reporters called out their questions from behind the wall of bodyguards.

“Mr. Blackwood, is it true that Miss Kingsley had a private argument with you because of Scarlett?”

“Is there a rift between you and Miss Kingsley? Have you two broken up?”

Even with all the cameras and flashes pointed at him, Jeremiah didn’t even bother to put on a facade. His face was cold and indifferent as he said, “No comment.”

With that, he walked off, escorted by his bodyguards, not bothering to say another word.

The reporters quickly read between the lines.

If Jeremiah really wanted to support Jessica, if he still intended to marry her, he would’ve stepped up to protect her reputation. No way he’d be this cold.

With him acting so distant, the vibe between them had clearly shifted.

Over at the Whitmore family’s living room, the TV was on. Avery was cradling his daughter, making her giggle, while he asked Hathaway, who was munching on fruit and watching gossip on TV, “You’re not talking to Jeremiah anymore, are you?”

Hathaway shook her head. “Nope.”

“Good. Look at the way he treats women, so heartless. If you ever got mixed up with him, you’d be the next one he tosses aside,” Avery said.

Hathaway shot him a look. “Are you seriously defending Jessica?”

“Don’t talk nonsense!” Avery glanced upstairs. “Quit it. Even eating can’t shut you up. I’m just worried about you.”

“I thought after almost losing your wife and kids thanks to Jessica’s family, you’d be pissed, not feeling sorry for her. That’s not who you should be feeling sorry for.

Careful, or your wife and kids might just walk out on you.” Hathaway lowered her voice as she spoke, then tossed the fruit pit into the trash.

She washed her hands, picked up her niece, and went to check on her nephew.

Over at the Kingsleys‘, Melanie was scrolling through her phone when she stumbled on a video of Jeremiah facing a crowd of reporters.

Her mood soured instantly, annoyance written all over her face. Jessica and Jeremiah had been together for years, and their relationship had brought the Kingsleys plenty of benefits, but now the Blackwood family didn’t seem to care about the wedding at all.

Ever since the engagement party, Jeremiah hadn’t set foot in their house even once.

Jessica had even ended up in tears not long ago.

She’d claimed it was just because of work.

But Melanie knew her daughter better than anyone. With Jessica’s ambition and perspective, there was no way she’d shed tears over some work issue. Melanie was sure it had to be something about her relationship.

With that thought, Melanie kept dialing Jessica’s number, one call after another.

Seeing how worried Melanie and Felix were, Elaine tried to comfort them. “Don’t stress, Melanie. At the last auction, Jeremiah splurged on a bunch of pricey items for Jessica, worth millions of dollars. If there was really a rift between them, he wouldn’t be so generous.“”

Melanie just gave a faint smile and gently shook her head. “Jessica’s a top student from a prestigious university. She’s not like most girls who get excited over shiny luxury goods. What she truly wants is her man’s genuine affection and someone who’ll openly have her back.”

As night fell, Jessica dragged herself home, exhausted. The moment she stepped through the gate, she saw several cars parked in the yard, and even some of Felix’s relatives had shown up. The whole house was wrapped in a gloomy, tense atmosphere.

Jessica’s face darkened. She already knew the paparazzi had caught her on camera, and Jeremiah had just brushed them off with a “no comment.” “Jeremiah was just saying whatever to get rid of the reporters. Don’t blow it out of proportion,” she said.

Jessica straightened her back, putting on a brave face. “Right now, Jeremiah and I are both just focused on work.”

“Jeremiah is the cream of the crop among the rich kids. Everyone can see how much he cares about Jessica.

“He even went up against the Whitmore family, and didn’t hesitate to defy his own parents and grandfather, just to be with her. After all that, there’s no way he won’t marry her,” Elizabeth added.

But after all these years together, Avery’s already married with a kid. Jeremiah definitely knows about it too. Seeing everyone else from his circle already having kids, you just know he’s probably itching to have an heir of his own.

Seeing Jessica looking so calm, like none of the drama outside could touch her, the Kingsley family finally let out a sigh of relief.
