Chapter 196 Worries
A steamy kiss on a moonlit terrace caught everyone off guard and swept across the internet, instantly dominating every major social media feed. The hype just kept skyrocketing, showing no signs of slowing down.
In the hazy night scene, the woman’s slender hand slipped under the man’s arm, her pale fingertips clutching the back of his shirt. Her body arched instinctively, hinting at a longing she couldn’t control.
No one saw it coming, the notoriously aloof mogul showing such unrestrained passion on a nighttime terrace. Even with the woman’s face hidden in the shadows, it set off a storm of wild guesses and heated discussions online.
[Just from those delicate, glowing hands, you can tell she’s a total knockout.]
[If you really pay attention to her expression and movements, something feels off. The girl is obviously resisting, pulling away and dodging him. She’s not doing this willingly at all.]
[Who wouldn’t want Jeremiah? Scarlett and Jessica are practically at each other’s throats over him.]
[Not seeing her face just makes everyone even more curious. Who is this heiress or industry insider tangled up with Jeremiah?]
Evelyn forwarded the video to Hathaway.
When Hathaway came across the viral terrace video, it was like a bolt from the blue. Her blood ran cold in an instant.
Evelyn’s cousin, Lila, sent Hathaway a friend request on Whatsapp, but Hathaway didn’t accept it.
When Jeremiah called, Hathaway just said, “Don’t ever contact me again,” and hung up.
But when she got off work, Jeremiah’s bodyguards showed up and took her straight to Inkwell Manor.
The room was dead silent. Jeremiah reached out, gently cupping her cheek. “Why are you throwing a fit again?”
Hathaway jerked away, her anger exploding. “I told you not to kiss me on the balcony, but you just had to do it anyway. Isn’t that your fault? Fine, let’s just call it quits. I won’t hold it against you, just stop bothering me.”
Without another word, she spun around and stormed out.
She was just about to reach the front door when a large, well–defined hand clamped firmly around her slender wrist, pulling her back with steady, unyielding force.
Jeremiah said, “Why are you freaking out? They only saw me. Your face was hidden behind mine, nobody could recognize you. And even if someone does figure it out, I’ve got your back. There’s nothing for you to worry about.”
Hathaway knew this was her best shot to walk away, but she still said, “Let’s not contact each other anymore.”
She was crystal clear in her heart. She was just playing him to piss off Jessica, never had any real feelings for him.
She’d sent Jessica two intimate photos of Jeremiah, but Jessica still wouldn’t break up with him. Guess Jessica was really willing to put up with anything for her company.
So why should she stick around any longer?
This time, she’d nearly had her face caught on camera, a serious wake–up call. If her mom ever found out she’d done something so shameful, it would only bring disgrace to the whole family.
This was way beyond anything she’d ever bargained for.
Right now, Hathaway just wanted to get out before things got even messier and cut all ties for good.
“We were never really a couple anyway. Let’s just end things like this no hard feelings, just a clean break.”
She barely moved when Jeremiah’s long arm suddenly tightened, catching her by the arm and drawing her close, wrapping around her waist.
“If you keep playing hot and cold, I’ll go public with us right this second. I’ll have a couple of guys keep an eye on Lorenzo,” Jeremiah said, flipping open his phone’s camera.
“What?” Hathaway blurted out, completely thrown. ‘He knows about Lorenzo? And now he’s threatening to expose us?‘
“Since everyone’s so curious about your face, let them see for themselves,” Jeremiah said.
Jeremiah pulled her into a rough kiss, and Hathaway suddenly realized in shock. He was already recording everything.
She tensed up, shaking and fighting to get away, totally panicked. All she wanted was to escape this nightmare.
Jeremiah just let her struggle, refusing to let go. He glanced at the video and snorted, “Look at all these people watching. You really need to chill with your face. You’re way too dramatic.”
“Not exactly picture–perfect,” he added.
This time, he grabbed her hand and pinned it against the door.

Hathaway’s tears spilled over, and in a desperate panic, she bit down hard on his wrist, clutching his phone and refusing to let go.
