The Billionaire Heir Fell for the Wrong Girl (Hathaway Whitmore) novel Chapter 198

Chapter 198 Cake Dress

Hathaway dreamed of a time way back when she, Jessica, and Avery went to the beach together.

They were having so much fun. Hathaway would sometimes call Jessica “sister,” and every now and then, she’d excitedly call her “sister–in–law,” really hoping Jessica would marry her brother Avery.

Suddenly, everything changed. Jeremiah showed up, wrapped his arm around Jessica, and walked off with her. Hathaway was left standing in the wind, heartbroken and confused, not knowing what to do.

Slowly, the dream faded away.

The crisp, masculine scent filled the air around her. She was wrapped securely in warm, strong arms, her back snug against his broad chest.

Jeremiah lay beside her, shirtless, his large hand resting on her stomach.

Her consciousness slowly returned.

Hathaway remembered that yesterday, Jeremiah hadn’t let her go home. A doctor came to check on her, exchanged a few words with Jeremiah, and then left. After that, she drank a bowl of sweet, warm tonic made especially for women.

She only meant to take a short nap, but sleepiness washed over her so suddenly that she drifted off into a deep sleep without even realizing it. She slept straight through until now.

Hathaway carefully checked her phone. It was already past eight in the morning.

She quickly opened her mom’s chat.

On Whatsapp, “she” had told her mom she was staying at Evelyn’s place.

Later, when her mom got worried and wanted to video call, Jeremiah sent a picture of Hathaway sleeping, using Evelyn’s account, and messaged, [Hey, Hathaway’s asleep.]

Hathaway quietly slipped out of bed, but even the slightest movement was enough to wake the man beside her.

Without missing a beat, Jeremiah reached out and effortlessly pulled her back against his chest, locking her securely in his arms.

Hathaway felt a little embarrassed and whispered, “The sheets are a mess.”

Jeremiah rested his chin on the top of her head, his voice low and lazy, with a teasing edge. “It’s fine. They can get even dirtier.”

Hathaway hurriedly tried to get to the bathroom, but just as her feet touched the floor, she was swept up again. Jeremiah scooped her up in his arms before she could even steady herself.

Jeremiah looked down at her, his eyes as deep and unreadable as ink. “The floor’s cold. Don’t step on it.”

He carried her into the bathroom and set her down gently, then called for a maid to bring her some clothes. After that, he headed to the bathroom in the next room to wash up.

When the maid brought in the clothes, Hathaway looked down and saw a soft, frilly cake dress, adorable and girly, just the kind that would make anyone smile.

Hathaway blinked in surprise, but with no other options, she slipped it on after her shower.

As she came out, she found herself drawn to the closet, almost against her will. When she opened the door, her gaze froze.

Inside, the closet was filled with frilly cake dresses in every style, soft pinks, creamy whites, pale apricots, and milky blues, all lined up in a row. Each one was sweet and girly, perfectly fitting her sweet, delicate style.

One of them was identical to the one she had in her last life.

Hathaway stood there, stunned, her face going pale. Are all these cake dresses for me?‘ she thought, frozen in place.

Just then, Jeremiah walked in, his gaze landing on her, his eyes swirling with complicated emotions.

The night before, he hadn’t slept well. In his dream, she was wearing a fluffy, sweet cake dress, her belly just starting to show. She spun lightly in front of him, her eyes curved with a smile, and softly asked if wearing this would hide her bump so nobody would know she was expecting.

In that moment, he was suddenly swept up in a wave of jealousy, his emotions torn back and forth. For a split second, he was gripped by a crazy urge to get rid of the baby inside her, but just as quickly, he couldn’t bring himself to do it.

His mind was full of suspicion. He couldn’t stop wondering whose child it was, wishing he could track down the bastard who knocked her up and tear him apart.

It wasn’t until he jolted awake from the nightmare that his heart finally settled. ‘Thank God she’s not pregnant, he thought.

“W–what’s wrong?” Hathaway stammered.

When she noticed his eyes locked onto her stomach, a wave of unease washed over her. Hathaway’s heart skipped a beat. Why was he staring like that?

Jeremiah didn’t move, just watched her quietly for a while. Then, he suddenly smiled, but the warmth never reached his eyes. “Or we could just stay here all day.”
