The Billionaire Heir Fell for the Wrong Girl (Hathaway Whitmore) novel Chapter 35

Chapter 35 Business Partners

The next day at noon, Conrad invited the suppliers out for lunch.

50 May

Because of what happened in her previous life, when some suppliers turned their backs on them, Hathaway wanted to figure out who the key players were.

If she could end the partnership early this time, it would actually be a win for Whitmore Group. So she wanted to tag along for lunch. Dad, I want to tag along.

Conrad hardly ever ate out with his daughter. She used to stick with Jeremiah, Lucas, and the younger folks/never wanting to hang out with a bunch of old men like them. He chuckled, Go ahead, as long as you don’t get bored.

But at lunch, Hathaway didn’t see any of the suppliers who had turned against them before. She enjoyed her meal without a

care.

Halfway through, she went to the restroom, and when she came out, she bumped into Lucas in the hallway.

Lucas saw her and immediately got flustered and angry. So you finally dropped the act and showed up here anyway? Hathaway, you’re really shameless. Jeremiah’s having lunch here and didn’t invite you, but you showed up anyway.

Lucas was always giving Hathaway a hard time.

What are you talking about? I don’t get it,” Hathaway said, frowning, not in the mood to deal with Lucas’s nonsense.

She started to walk off.

Lucas blocked her path, sneering, Jeremiah and Jessica are already a couple. You missed your chance. If you try to come between them now, you’ll be the mistress.

Hathaway hadn’t expected Jeremiah and Jessica to be here, too.

Her expression darkened, and after a pause, she said, If you guys really didn’t want anyone else around, you could’ve booked the whole place. Since you didn’t, why shouldn’t I eat here?

He wants me to stay away from them. Honestly, if he hadn’t said anything, I would’ve kept my distance, Hathaway thought.

I’m heading to my own private booth and won’t bother you. Step aside,” she said.

Lucas was momentarily stunned. He hadn’t expected Hathaway to be so agreeable all of a sudden.

As Hathaway was about to walk past him, Lucas reached out to grab her, snapping, What are you trying to pull?

Hathaway stepped back, dodging his hand with clear disdain. Lucas could see the contempt in her eyes.

He couldn’t help but grit his teeth. Hathaway.

Just then, Conrad, noticing Hathaway had been gone for a while, came out to look for her. What took you so long?Lucas froze. He hadn’t expected Conrad to be here, and he immediately let go of Hathaway. So Hathaway came here with her dad?he thought.

Seeing Conrad, Lucas quickly straightened up and forced a respectful smile. Hi, Conrad.

Conrad recognized him, too. It was Lucas, the Reed heir. He greeted him warmly, Lucas, have you eaten yet? If not, why dont you join us?

No, thanks. I’m with some friends in the next room,Lucas replied, carefully avoiding Jeremiah’s name. He knew with the way things were between their families, if Conrad found out Jeremiah was here, he might come over to say hello.

That’d be a disaster, especially since Jessica was there too.

Lucas kept quiet, worried Hathaway might bring it up to Conrad and cause trouble. He gave Hathaway a meaningful look, hoping she’d stay quiet.

Hathaway acted like she didn’t see it.

Dad, let’s go inside,” she said softly, moving to Conrad’s side. She honestly didn’t care if Jeremiah was around or not.

Conrad nodded to Lucas, then took Hathaway back to their private room.

Once they were inside, Lucas hurried back to his own private booth.

Inside, Jeremiah was picking food for Jessica. Lucas leaned in and whispered, Conrad and Hathaway are both here, too.

Jeremiah didn’t look up.

Jessica’s expression shifted, and she shot a w

Whatever,Jeremiah finally looked up and downed his glass of wine.

By saying whatever, he meant he didn’t care if Edmund heard about it anymore. He was already prepared for whatever might come.

After lunch, Hathaway walked out with her father and a few of his business associates. At the entrance, they bumped into Jeremiah, Jessica, Calvin, and the rest of their group.

It was obvious they’d finished eating, too.

The executives all recognized Jeremiah. When they spotted Calvin and the others, they paused for a second, then quickly went over to say hello.

Jeremiah had a reputation for being ruthless and never letting anything slip. Even the older execs had to be extra polite around him, always putting on their best smiles.

Long time no see, Mr. Blackwood, Mr. Harper, Mr. Reed,” one of the execs said.

Long time no see,Jeremiah replied, reaching out to shake their hand.

Since the deal between the Blackwood and Whitmore families wasn’t set in stone yet, Conrad kept quiet.

Hathaway ignored Jeremiah and the others.

But then she realized that when the execs had complimented her and Jeremiah as a perfect match, she hadn’t objected.

Hathaway suddenly felt uneasy and looked at Jessica with concern.

Jessica glanced at Hathaway, as if she knew exactly what Hathaway was thinking. Then, she boldly hooked her arm around Jeremiah’s and threw Hathaway a provocative look.

Her sudden move stunned the execs, and their eyes darted to Hathaway in surprise.

Honestly, none of the execs knew who Jessica was supposed to be with. She’d been standing between Jeremiah and Lucas, so they figured she was someone’s date or maybe a pretty secretary.

But now, she had gotten cozy with Jeremiah, and he didn’t object at all. That left no doubt. She was Jeremiah’s girlfriend.

Isn’t Jeremiah engaged to Hathaway?they wondered.

One of the execs couldn’t help but start, Wait, isn’t this

But then he realized it wasn’t the right moment to say anything, so he quickly clammed up. Both Jeremiah and Lucas were clearly on Jessica’s side.
