The Billionaire Heir Fell for the Wrong Girl (Hathaway Whitmore) novel Chapter 36

Chapter 36 Secretary’s Perspective

V50 Vociety

The next day, not long after Hathaway got to the office, she saw Jeremiah and his secretary, Victor, arrive at Whitmore Group.

It was no secret that the Blackwood and Whitmore families were considering a partnership, so Jeremiah’s visit didn’t come as a surprise.

Their eyes locked, and there was no dodging it. Hathaway could only nod in greeting, Hi, Jeremiah.

Jeremiah’s eyes were deep and unreadable as he looked at her, his face expressionless. He replied coolly, Hi, Ms. Whitmore.

After their polite exchange, they brushed past each other.

Jeremiah took a few steps, then paused. He glanced back, watching Hathaway’s figure fade into the distance. It was as if the little girl who used to be close to him had vanished, too.

But he didn’t dwell on it.

Victor noticed his boss pause and frowned, his eyes full of suspicion as he watched Hathaway walk away.

But he didn’t have time to dwell on it. Jeremiah was already on the move, so Victor quickly followed after him.

Conrad was out at the factory today, so Avery was the one greeting them and would be handling the project from here on out.

Jeremiah and Avery were meeting up to go over the details of their partnership.

While Avery and Jeremiah were discussing in the conference room, Hathaway came in of her own accord and quietly sat down next to Avery, not making a sound.

Victor, Jeremiah’s assistant, noticed that Hathaway was paying close attention throughout the meeting. But whether she actually absorbed any of it was anyone’s guess.

After all, the old Hathaway wouldn’t have lasted half an hour in that chair. Anyone could see she was really trying to turn things around. Or, to put it more bluntly, she was doing it all for Jeremiah to see.

Victor couldn’t help but smirk to himself, thinking, Hathaway’s probably setting herself up for disappointment again.

Not everyone can be as impressive as Jessica.

Hathaway had no idea Jessica had only joined Blackwood Group, but she was already bringing in major clients.

She volunteered for several key projects herself. But Jessica always kept a low profile. Even when Jeremiah offered to throw her a party, she always turned him down. No wonder Jeremiah fell for her.

Last week, Jessica closed a 60milliondollar deal for Blackwood Group, and everyone at the company admired her.

None of the staff had expected Jessica to pull off something so impressive. Everyone was singing Jessica’s praises.

Victor was willing to bet his paycheck that Hathaway was only there to catch Jeremiah’s eye. Is she absorbing half of whats being discussed? Not a chance, not ten percent, let alone half; he thought.

Jeremiah clearly felt the same way. He focused entirely on Avery, never once looking at Hathaway throughout the meeting.

Before they realized it, lunchtime had arrived. Jeremiah and Avery had nearly finished their discussion.

With both families eager to collaborate, the deal was basically sealed, and Whitmore Group was about to reap major benefits. Avery, feeling upbeat, extended an invitation, Let’s grab some lunch.

Jeremiah hadn’t replied yet when his phone rang. His voice was soft and deep, and Hathaway immediately recognized who was on the other end.

Sure enough, after the call ended, he turned down Avery’s lunch invitation. Sorry, my girlfriend finished her meeting, and she’s coming over. Maybe next time.

Avery was a bit stunned. He hadn’t expected Jeremiah to acknowledge his relationship with Jessica so quickly.

Avery paused for a moment, then looked over at Hathaway. Hathaway stood quietly at the back, not showing any reaction. Victor, meanwhile, gave Hathaway another glance.

Next time, then,Avery said, not bothered at all. The group headed for the elevator.

Just then, one of Whitmore Group’s business

Blackwood, long time no see.

Long time no see, Jeremiah replied.

Successfully unlocked!

hurried over to shake his hand. Mr.

I heard you’re dating Ms. Kingsley. With your girlfriend, a top student from Monarcia, back to help you out, you two make a strong alliance. Blackwood Group is bound to reach new heights,” the man said.

Jeremiah replied modestly, Thank you.

The man couldn’t help but think, Wow, Mr. Blackwood actually thanked me because of his girlfriend? That’s a first.’

He looked both flattered and surprised by Jeremiah’s response.

Just then, the elevator doors opened, and he gestured for Jeremiah to go first.

As they reached the company entrance, Hathaway saw Jessica’s 15milliondollar sports car glide up. Jessica rolled down the window and greeted, Hi, Jeremiah, Mr. Whitmore.

She didn’t spare Hathaway a glance.

Avery nodded.

Jeremiah got into the passenger seat, and the car smoothly pulled away.

Victor, who was left behind, said, I’ll have the partnership proposal ready, and we’ll meet again then.

Avery nodded. Alright.

Avery glanced at Hathaway, who was trailing behind and looked completely left out. Hathaway, what do you want to eat?

Still preoccupied, Hathaway shook her head absentmindedly.

Two days had gone by. Victor showed up at Whitmore Group with the partnership proposal in hand.

Jeremiah didn’t come this time.

As Jeremiah’s chief secretary, Victor was always running around, taking care of things for him.

Just recently, Victor had been busy helping Preston win over potential business partners.

In the office, Hathaway gave Victor a cold glance, barely looked at the proposal, then flung it right back at him. Not approved.”

Victor, Jeremiah’s secretary, was caught off guard. He’d never been treated like this.

Watching her skim the proposal for three seconds before tossing it back, Victor figured she was acting like a spoiled heiress. He let out a sarcastic laugh. Ms. Whitmore, care to take another look?

She’s acting all petty, mixing up business with personal stuff. No wonder Jeremiah went for Jessica and lost interest in Hathaway, Victor thought.

Hathaway didn’t say a word. She looked up and signaled for him to take the proposal away.

Victor frowned, thinking, Seriously, why did Whitmore Group send such a handful of an heiress to work with me? She’s so hard to deal with.’

Ms. Whitmore, business is business. I hope you won’t mix it up with your personal feelings. If you don’t get something, you can always ask Mr. Whitmore.

Even he has to practically beg the Blackwood family for a partnership,” Victor said.

A flicker of surprise crossed Hathaway’s eyes, but she quickly masked it and said coldly, It’s not approved. I’m not repeating myself.
