Chapter 46 More Dazzling Than Any Star
The party was packed with celebrities. But at this moment, Jessica shone brighter than any star in the room.
As soon as she finished speaking, Reginald and Eleanor were the first to start clapping.
In an instant, applause mingled with the flashes of cameras.
Jessica gave a grateful bow to Reginald and Eleanor.
Sylvia had clearly moved past any resentment. Her eyes softened with a smile as she started clapping slowly for Jessica. – She had to admit, Jessica was undeniably more accomplished than Hathaway.
Avery was about to join in the applause, but Hathaway shot him a warning glare from the side. He awkwardly lowered his hand.
As Hathaway was about to look away, she caught sight of Calvin standing to Avery’s right, completely motionless.
‘Aren’t they friends?‘ Hathaway thought to herself and felt genuinely confused.
Because of Jeremiah, Jessica was close with both Lucas and Calvin. Yet at this moment, Calvin stood there with his hands stuffed in his suit pockets, not lifting a hand to applaud.
Strangely enough, Hathaway found herself developing a bit of a soft spot for Calvin right then.
Lucas, on the other hand, was clapping like his life depended on it.
Jessica stepped off the stage to thunderous applause, her gaze landing on Hathaway.
Hathaway had never known Jessica did charity work. This time, she was completely outshone so much that she was on the verge of tears.
But instead of seeing Hathaway angry, Jessica noticed Hathaway was staring at Calvin, not acknowledging her presence. Jessica didn’t mind. She coolly withdrew her gaze, with the crowd’s admiration echoing around her, and walked gracefully toward Jeremiah.
This was a star–studded charity gala, streamed live across all platforms.
The live stream had already hit over ten million viewers, and the internet was blowing up, especially when everyone caught Jeremiah gazing at Jessica from the audience with that doting look. The fans were absolutely losing it.
[Is this his official girlfriend reveal? I’m shipping them so hard. I can’t breathe.]
[The city hall should move in and marry them on the spot.]
[When they’re together, I don’t know who to look at first. Guess I’ll split my gaze, left eye on him, right eye on her.]
[They’re a perfect match.]
Jessica, Jeremiah’s girlfriend, became a household name after tonight.
Some guests at the event, unsure about Jeremiah’s girlfriend’s background, asked, “Which family is she from?”
“The Kingsley family.”
“That unimpressive Kingsley family? But Ms. Kingsley looks like a true heiress from a prestigious household.”
“I heard the Kingsley family treats their daughter better than their son. They gave her the best upbringing, like horse riding, piano, violin, all that.
“Then they sent her overseas for her master’s and doctorate. She’s super accomplished and came back last year. And get this, barely a year after returning, she ended up saving Jeremiah. Now that’s some crazy luck.”
“She and Jeremiah really are a power couple.”
Hathaway ignored the hype and made her way to the dessert table. It was quiet there, and she was about to help herself to a piece of mousse cake when Elaine walked over.
Her cheeks were rosy, her face full of excitement and pride. “See? Now you know, right? Jessica is the charity ambassador everyone wishes they could be. She’s not only brilliant and accomplished. She’s a philanthropist, too.”
Elaine shot her a look full of contempt. “And you? You’re a dog who can’t stand the light.”
As Elaine finished speaking, Hathaway slapped her across the face with a loud smack.
Hathaway smiled, “Want me to call the cops fo Successfully unlocked!
Elaine was stunned, clutching her cheek. She thuuy, No way the cups can show up at a place crawling with celebrities. That would be a nightmare.’

Chapter 46 More Dazzling Than Any Star
V 75 Vously Jessica had warned her not to make a scene, to watch her mouth, to keep that in mind. But Hathaway clearly didn’t care cary about any of that.
Elaine wanted so badly to go off on Hathaway, but in a room full of celebrities and power players, her hands were tied. She had her pride.
‘Hathaway slapped me at a place like this?‘ Elaine thought, stunned. ‘Does she not care about her public image at all? ‘What elite family would ever marry a wild heiress who goes around slapping people? God, that hurt.
Elaine’s eyes brimmed with tears; she was furious, but couldn’t say a thing.
Just then, Lucas stepped in, pulling Elaine behind him and glaring at Hathaway. “What are you doing?”
Hathaway flicked her hand dismissively. “Didn’t you see it?”
“Jealousy has made you unrecognizable,” Lucas said through gritted teeth. “You’re hideous right now.”
Hathaway looked up and met his eye. He really did look at her with nothing but contempt.
But in her previous life, she’d been more of a wreck, reduced to skin and bones by drugs, nothing but a discarded wife Jeremiah didn’t want anymore, and yet Lucas hadn’t minded at all when he dragged her to bed.
‘What a fake,’ Hathaway sneered to herself. She watched Lucas walk away with Elaine in his arms, feeling nothing but scorn for him.
Lucas escorted Elaine to the Kingsley family.
Jessica and Jeremiah soon heard about it, and Jeremiah shot Hathaway a look so cold it could freeze someone solid.
No one knew what Jessica had said to Jeremiah, but she walked over to Hathaway alone, her eyes full of reproach. ” Hathaway, I know you hit Elaine because you can’t stand me being with Jeremiah.
“If you have a problem, take it out on me, not on others.”
Before Hathaway could say a word, her phone rang. She pulled it out of her bag, glanced at the caller ID, and answered,” Edmund?”
When Jessica realized who was on the other end, her fingers nervously pressed into her palm.
Edmund was already on his way back from the Blackwood Villa.
He’d seen it himself on the news. His eldest grandson, Jeremiah, was arm in arm with a woman, looking far too close for his liking. The sight left him absolutely livid.
Edmund didn’t only call Hathaway; Jeremiah and Reginald got calls from him as well.
On the way to the Blackwood Villa to meet Edmund, Hathaway sat in silence in the back seat. She’d declined Avery’s company, and her parents‘ as well.
Only Benson was driving her. Benson kept glancing at Hathaway in the rearview mirror.
At tonight’s charity gala, Jessica totally stole the show. Jeremiah made it official and declared her his girlfriend in front of
everyone.
Hathaway had always had a crush on Jeremiah, ever since she was a kid.
‘She must be really hurting right now; Benson couldn’t help but think.
