When Hathaway arrived at the hospital, Calvin handled registration, arranged an X-ray, and spoke with the doctor.

“It’s dislocated,” the doctor said.

As the doctor was about to start treatment, a guy walked in, calling himself a bone-setting master. “Who’s Hathaway?”

Calvin pointed at Hathaway.

“This foot, right?” the old healer asked, crouching down.

Hathaway shrank back a little, feeling uneasy.

Calvin tried to reassure her. “Let him try. Otherwise, you might have

wear a cast.”

But

before she could finish, the old man waved

“No. I don’t think so.” Hathaway hesitated, clearly not trusting this old his sleeve and said, “It’s done.”

“It’s done?” Hathaway asked, surprised.

He barely touched her foot and said it was fixed.

“Does it still hurt?” Calvin asked.

Hathaway tried moving her foot; there was no more stabbing pain.

“Who is he?” Hathaway asked.

“I don’t know him, but he must be someone Jeremiah knows. I heard Edmund dislocated his hand a few months ago and brought in a master to fix it. This guy matches the description exactly,” Calvin replied.

Hathaway’s face went pale, then flushed.

‘Why did she feel like she’d never understand what Jeremiah was thinking?’ Hathaway wondered.

Hathaway guessed that ever since she gave back his family’s ring, Jeremiah seemed a little more kind. Maybe he really was happy she called off the engagement herself.

“Try walking around,” Calvin said, bringing her back to reality.

Hathaway stood up and took a few steps. Her expression eased up. “It really doesn’t hurt anymore.”

Her foot was fine now, but there were still a few scrapes on her leg. The nurses dabbed some iodine on them and slapped on ointment and bandages.

Once they left the hospital, Hathaway looked a bit shy as she said to Calvin, “Thanks, I really appreciate your help today.”

“No problem. I’ll take you home,” Calvin replied.

Hathaway nodded. She felt a little flutter in her chest, but tried not to dwell on it.

Meanwhile, Jeremiah was outside, taking a call.

He murmured a few responses, hung up, and headed for the living room.

“Who was that?” Eleanor asked, glancing up from her conversation with Jessica.

“It was Grandpa’s doctor,” Jeremiah replied.

Eleanor didn’t think much of it.

Jessica had come over to visit today, holding Eleanor’s hand and showing real concern for her. Eleanor couldn’t help but feel a little comforted.

“Make sure you take care of yourself, too. If you catch a cold in this weather, you’ll have a hard time shaking it off,” Eleanor said.

It was the first time Eleanor had shown concern for Jessica. Jessica was a little taken aback, then smiled sweetly, “Thank you for caring about me, Mrs. Blackwood.”

“You can call me Eleanor,” Eleanor said.

“Okay, Eleanor,” Jessica replied happily.

jeremiah watched them, and suddenly remembered that night Jessica saved him, she’d left a bracelet behind at his house.

That bracelet was still lying in his bedroom drawer, still waiting to make its way back to its rightful owner.

“Mom, mind if I steal her away for a minute?” Jeremiah said.

He grabbed Jessica’s hand and headed upstairs with her.

The bedroom door closed softly behind them, shutting out all the noise from downstairs. Inside, the lighting was soft and warm, and the air carried a faint woody aroma, calm and composed, like Jeremiah himself.

Jeremiah opened the drawer and said, “There’s something I

I’ve given you a long time ago.”

“Give it to me,” Jessica replied, extending her hand with effortless grace.

Jeremiah’s lips curled into a faint smile as he reached for the pink crystal bracelet, but then, his brother Lorenzo came barging in, making a scene. “Whoa, sorry! I’m allergic to romance, so please, no lovey-dovey stuff in front of me.”

Jessica, usually so cool and composed, suddenly blushed. Her cheeks flushed, and the tips of her ears turned pink. Jeremiah let out a low chuckle.

Seeing Jeremiah in such a good mood, Lorenzo handed over his test paper. “Hey, Jeremiah, how do I solve this problem?”

Jeremiah lowered his gaze and studied the question carefully for a moment.

Within seconds, Jeremiah took Lorenzo’s pen and worked out the solution for him, jotting down the steps.

Lorenzo instantly gave him a thumbs-up.

Jessica watched, knowing Jeremiah had always doted on his adopted brother. Because of Jeremiah, she would care about Lorenzo, too, and from now on, she’d treat Lorenzo as family.

Just then, Eleanor pushed the door open, smiling as she called them downstairs for some fruit.

After saying that, she grabbed Jessica’s hand with a warm smile and headed out first.

Jeremiah gave the drawer one last look, then followed them downstairs.

When Hathaway got home, she changed her shoes as if nothing had happened, not mentioning a word about what had happened today. She didn’t want to worry her parents or stir up any trouble at home over something so minor.

The next day, Avery and Celeste finally returned home after their honeymoon.

Hathaway was in the kitchen, cooking up a storm. The girl who never lifted a finger in the kitchen before had whipped up a few impressive dishes.

Mary was stunned and thought, ‘Since when could Ms. Kingsley cook?’

Sylvia watched as her daughter flipped the pan with practiced ease, her face full of disbelief.

When Avery and Celeste got home, Hathaway was finishing up the last dish. Avery looked shocked when he heard his little sister was actually cooking in the kitchen.

He pointed at Hathaway. “Who are you and what have you done with my sister? Did you get possessed or transmigrated or something? There’s no way my little sister would ever cook, not in a million years!”

Hathaway frowned. “Remember when you went raiding bird nests as a kid, and the bird turned out to be a protected species? You got dragged to the police station.

“Or that time you insisted on cooking and ended up setting the kitchen on fire while Mom and Dad were out. Should I keep spilling more of your embarrassing secrets?”

Avery laughed awkwardly, “Okay, it’s all a misunderstanding. You’ve changed so much. I’m a little freaked out now.”

Celeste teased Avery with a laugh. “Quit messing around!”

Hathaway shot Avery a look, then turned to Celeste. “You must be starving, Celeste. Come on, let’s eat.”

Avery sat down, took a bite, and still couldn’t believe it. “Hathaway, when did you learn to cook? Didn’t you always say the kitchen was off-limits for you?”

Hathaway learned to cook after she married Jeremiah in her previous life.

She’d seen online that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, so she tried every recipe under the sun to please him.

But when she snapped out of it, she thought, ‘If that really worked, then every top chef in the country would have men lining up for them.'”

“I learned from watching TV. Celeste, you must be exhausted after that long flight. Let’s eat!” Hathaway said.
