At the entry point where everyone had gathered, Billionaire paced back and forth nervously. Around him were small camps set up by Atlas’s team.
The camp team remained behind to watch over the place. After all, this was the route they would eventually use to leave, and guarding it with everything they had was their duty. So even though Atlas, Baby, Slater, and a few others—who had followed them on Atlas’s orders—had left the camp, the rest of the team was still stationed here.
Unless, they were told otherwise by their boss.
Billionaire’s crew looked up at him, seated around the area.
"Boss," one of the crew members spoke up. "Why don’t you sit down? We already did what we could. There’s no point in going back and forth like this."
"He’s right." Another one echoed. "Let’s just calm down a little and wait for good news."
If there was good news, that was.
Billionaire stopped and turned to his men. He was clearly distressed, but his distress was justified. He was worried about his people back on his turf. Their community wasn’t large, but he knew the people of Ravah.
They would kill all of them—women, children, the elderly.
No one would be spared.
With so little time left, he feared whether Atlas’s men would even manage to save everyone.
Earlier, when Billionaire left the port, he already knew things wouldn’t look good for him or his people. Things had been rocky between him and the territory’s authorities for a long time. Deep down, Billionaire knew his days were numbered the moment that man—the governor’s right hand—found someone else to replace him.
Their lack of decency regarding the deaths of Billionaire’s men had already been the first sign that they were planning to cut him off.
It had been a long time coming.
After all, they knew Billionaire was friends with Haji. They just didn’t have concrete evidence that he had helped Lola and Haji in the past. If not for Billionaire’s usefulness, they would have killed him back then—with or without proof.
Tonight, however, was different.
That man—Jarvis, the governor’s best soldier—had come personally to see Billionaire. The latter knew that whether Haji and Lola succeeded or not, his death was already guaranteed.
So, Billionaire set out in haste toward his territory. But along the way, he was intercepted by Atlas’s people, who had been swimming quietly to the spot where he had dropped off the first group earlier.
That was how Billionaire and Atlas met again.
From their conversation, two things became clear.
First, there was the camp’s problem. Even after launching drones and identifying several issues inside the territory, their biggest obstacle was their lack of communication.
The camp team eventually discovered the reason for it. One of the Bellemonte men, who was supposed to set up a device in one location, had been caught in a brawl. Worse still, he was dragged away by those involved.
The second thing was simple.
They had to fix the problem.
And to do that, Atlas would step forward as bait.
He would cause a disturbance large enough to keep everyone inside the territory occupied until the connection was established.
That was where Billionaire came in.
