Atlas’ message was spoken so ridiculously calm, yet everyone who heard him found peace in it. Especially those in the Order—they knew they were going to be fine. But for those who were listening to such an exchange for the first time, it brought a different impact.
Billionaire, for instance, was in one particular town with a small group from the Order.
Standing in the corner of the bustling town, unaware of the brewing tension in the territory, he listened carefully to Atlas and Jarvis’ exchange. As someone who had countless encounters with Jarvis, this was almost the first for Billionaire.
Billionaire had witnessed countless people struggle and walk on eggshells around Jarvis. Some cursed the hell out of the man in retaliation, but everyone already knew what happened to them. He had seen a lot of encounters, but this was the first time he had heard someone not just stand up against Jarvis...
...but declare war against the entire Ravah.
Knowing the other governors were listening made that entire declaration something else. It filled the man and the rest of his crew—who were with him—with a heavy silence, all of them lowering their heads.
For once... they all thought as if they shared the same brain.
I think... we have a chance this time.
The governors and Jarvis understood the level of threat Atlas carried. They understood that the forces setting their roots in Ravah were unlike any other forces that had tried to take control of a portion of their lands.
It threatened them, challenged their power, and placed them in a position they loathed.
But for those who had been suppressed in this land for almost their entire lives—those who had fought the system, corruption, and injustices with the smallest means they could muster—they didn’t see Atlas as a threat.
He was... hope.
A savior.
A knight in shining armor who not only planned to lead them, but also a warrior who came to win.
"Hey," Billionaire called, making his crew—who were waiting for the other members of the Order to return—raise their heads. When their gazes landed on him, all they saw was Billionaire still looking down.
"I have to go," he finally said, lifting his eyes to meet theirs. His eyes gleamed with determination. "I don’t think we should stick with those guys anymore, since we already fixed the missing cell device signal."
After all, the Order’s members had only gone to meet the Bellemonte men who arrived on the mission with them.
"We’re coming with you," one of his crew announced, nodding. "I also think I can’t be of any help with them at this point."
They already knew they were supposed to leave soon, since their assistance was done. But after Atlas’s declaration, it fueled the suppressed fire that had burned within them their entire lives.
That fire now blazed with emotions they had long buried.
The crew looked at one another, then nodded in agreement.
Minutes later, the Order’s members returned to where they had left the crew to wait. But when they arrived, the spot they had agreed to meet at was... empty.
Only old crates and storage boxes remained.
They searched the area, thinking the crew had simply hidden. But when they regrouped at the same spot, all they could offer one another was a shake of their heads.
"Where could they have gone?" they wondered, confusion clear on their faces.
"Well, they know Ravah," one of them remarked. "If they left the town, that’s better. After all, that was the only reason we came back—to make them return to the rendezvous point."
And surely, the crew would know how to find their way back.
"What if something horrible happened to them?" another asked, making them all look at one another before glancing around the bustling town.
