The Billionaire’s Fight For Redemption (Noah and Sierra) novel Chapter 143

Chapter 143

Noah quickly ushers us into his SUV. The ride begins in heavy, thick silence. But that doesn’t even bother me.

My mind won’t stop spinning. What if it was the same person who’s after me? Or someone they sent to keep tabs on me? Someone to watch, to wait and then to strike when I least expect it?

If they saw me leave the hospital, they’ll know I’m out now, and that makes it easier to find me. To finish what they started.

I didn’t like being in that sterile room, surrounded by constant beeping and white walls but right now, I can’t help wondering if I was safer there than I am out here.

Lilly sits in the back with me while Noah drives, his eyes fixed on the road, hands steady on the steering wheel. The air inside the car feels too full, too tight, like we’re all holding our breath for something none of us want to

name.

Outside, the city rolls past in slow motion. I should be enjoying the feel of the sun, of being outside, but I can’t. Not when this has given me a scare. Not when I still haven’t figured out a way to protect myself.

Lilly clears her throat dramatically. Soooshe starts, her tone way too chipper to be natural. How was your little hospital stay?

She’s trying to cheer me up. To distract me and I couldn’t be any more grateful.

I glance at her, smirking. Not bad, actually. Turns out, being best friends with a billionaire heiress comes with perks You get the VIP treatment Private room, personal nurse, food that doesn’t taste like cardboardI could get used to it.

She gasps in mock offense. Excuse me? You could get used to it? I’m the billionaire heiress here. You just freeload off my status!

Uhhuh,I tease, bumping her shoulder. Says the woman who used my N*****x account for three years.

It was one time!” she protests immediately.

Three years, Lilly.

She rolls her eyes. Details, details.

I laugh, shaking my head. You know, you’ve got this icy heiress image to maintain. If people ever heard you whining about expired snacks or crying over a broken nail, the whole illusion would crumble.

To everyone else, Lilly’s the cold, ruthless, untouchable heiress but to us, to me, she’s the sweetest soul alive. Sure, she’s wild in ways that make question her sanity, but she’s oursand I wouldn’t trade her for anything.

Oh please, she says with mock dignity. I’m perfectly capable of crying in luxury. I sob in silk pajamas and Dior mascara. It’s called class.

I can’t help laughing. Right, my mistake. Next time I have a breakdown, I’ll make sure it’s designerapproved.

She flicks her hair dramatically. Good girl. We can cry togetheryou bring the trauma; I’ll bring the champagne.

I grin. Perfect plan. Just make sure it’s the expensive kind. I’m done with cheap bubbles.

You say that like you ever bought your own champagne, she shoots back.

Touché,I admit, laughing harder now.

We’re still laughing when Noah’s voice cuts through the car, dry as dust. I swear, Nolan and Nova act more mature than the two of you.

We both whip our heads toward him.

Lilly gasps dramatically. Did you just compare us to toddlers?

He doesn’t even look at her. If the shoe fits.

Wow,she says, pressing a hand to her chest. The betrayal. Sierra, my own cousin, just verbally assaulted me.

I’m trying so hard not to laugh. He’s not wrong though.

Lilly glares at me. Don’t you dare take his side!
