Chapter 187: Test Me?

The black Maserati sped through the capital’s streets toward Lakeside Garden.

Zachary sat behind the wheel, his attention fixed on the road ahead. They were hurrying home before dinner because Skylar had insisted on waiting for them so they could eat together.

Meanwhile, Sienna sat quietly in the passenger seat. Resting her head against the seat, she stared through the windshield, lost in thought.

However, the silence didn’t last long before the questions that had been lingering in her mind returned.

’Since when did Zach know I was Skylar’s surrogate mother? Did he propose to me because I was the woman who carried his son?’

She turned to look at him, wanting to ask what had been bothering her. She hesitated for a few moments, but the question kept echoing in her mind until she could no longer hold it back.

"...Zach, can I ask you something?" She said carefully.

Zachary looked at her with a slight smile, then asked instead of replying. "My wife, could you call me something other than Zach?" his tone sounded casual before returning his attention to the road.

Sienna blinked in surprise. His unexpected request completely made her forget what she had wanted to ask.

She took a deep breath in silence before trying to think of another way to address him.

’What should I call him...? Handsome..!?’ A small frown formed on her forehead. ’No... No... that sounds so weird.’

She searched for another idea.

’How about I call him, Honey Bunny!?’ The thought alone made her shake her head. ’No. That’s way too cringe.’

After considering several names, she finally gave up and looked at him again. It’s better to ask him than to exhaust her mind.

"Then what should I call you?" She asked.

"Anything, as long as it’s not Zach," he replied, briefly glancing at her. "My close friends and family call me that."

"That makes sense," Sienna said with a nod. After thinking for another moment, she finally suggested something she wasn’t entirely comfortable with. "How about... Babe?"

"Babe...!?" he repeated thoughtfully.

Sienna noticed it; he didn’t seem to like the idea. She nodded awkwardly. "It sounds weird, doesn’t it?"

"Ugh, well, sounds not right. Any other ideas?" he asked.

"Mmm, then how about this... I’ll call you Zach when other people are around, and I’ll call you Honey when it’s just the two of us, maybe three, with Skylar around."

Zachary didn’t answer immediately. He seemed to think it over before finally nodding.

"That sounds good." A smile spread across his face. "Alright, call me. I want to hear it." He said excitedly.

Sienna couldn’t help laughing softly. She had never imagined that the powerful CEO, Zachary Sterling, had such an unexpectedly adorable side.

"H-Honey..." she murmured so quietly that it was almost impossible to hear.

Embarrassed, she immediately turned to look out the windshield, hoping the conversation would end there.

Unfortunately for her, it didn’t.

"What was that?" Zachary teased with a smile. "I can’t hear you. Say it again. A little louder this time, dear."

Unable to stop herself from smiling, Sienna narrowed her eyes at him. "You hear me."

Sienna nearly choked. "Are you serious?"

The car came to a stop at a red light. Zachary turned to look at her, his eyes calm and full of affection.

"Mm. I’m serious. I wanted you to meet Sky... and I wanted to test you."

"Test me?" she repeated, frowning in confusion.

"I wanted to know whether you’d accept Sky... or run away after finding out I already had a son."

Sienna felt her heartbeat race, not because she was nervous, but because hearing his honest confession filled her with excitement.

"And?"

"Of course, you passed the test immediately." His smile grew warmer. "You cared about him, and Sky liked you too. That was the moment I knew you were the right woman for me to become my wife."

His words melted her heart all over again.

"So that’s why you didn’t ask me to date you. You asked me to marry you instead?"

His smile widened as the traffic light turned green. He shifted his attention back to the road, and the car began moving again.

"You’re Skylar’s mother," Zachary said simply. "Of course, I wanted to marry you. I never wanted anyone else to become his mother."

His answer only brought another question to Sienna’s mind.

"Zach... why did you choose surrogacy to have a son instead of getting married?"
