Junior grabbed his painting kit and ran out toward the backyard.

The moment the sound of Junior’s footsteps faded, the gentle smile on Clarissa’s face vanished instantly.

Replaced by a hard expression. Cold. Filled with hatred.

She no longer hid the enormous rage she harbored toward Alina.

Clarissa did not walk to her room to rest as she had promised.

Instead, she walked briskly toward the east wing. Toward Alina’s room, tucked away at the end of a dim corridor.

Her steps were firm. Angry. Determined to confirm the pregnancy directly from the woman herself.

The corridor grew increasingly quiet as Clarissa approached Alina’s room.

No servants here. No one at all.

Only a suffocating silence.

Clarissa arrived at Alina’s door. She saw several people standing guard there.

Mr. Harris, among those on duty, stepped forward with an upright posture and an expressionless face.

“Mrs. Clarissa,” he said in a formal tone. “Is there something I can help you with?”

Clarissa lowered her hand. She looked at Mr. Harris with irritation.

“I want to see Alina. There’s something that needs to be discussed regarding Junior.”

Mr. Harris did not move from his position. He remained blocking the door.

“I’m sorry, Mrs. Clarissa. Mrs. Alina is unable to receive visitors at this time.”

“I am not a visitor,” said Clarissa, her tone rising. “I am part of this family. And I need to speak with her about my son.”

“Even so, I cannot allow it.” Mr. Harris met Clarissa’s gaze without flinching. “Mr. Daniel has given strict instructions. Mrs. Alina is forbidden from meeting anyone without his permission.”

Clarissa felt fury surge in her chest.

“This is about Junior! About my son! I have the right to discuss matters concerning my own child!”

“I understand, Mrs. Clarissa.” Mr. Harris remained calm. “But the rules are clear. If you wish to see Mrs. Alina, please contact Mr. Daniel first and request his permission. If he approves, I will open the door immediately.”

Clarissa clenched her fists. She wanted to scream. To force her way in.

But she knew it would be futile.

Mr. Harris and the other guards would not let her into Alina’s room.

“Damn it,” Clarissa muttered under her breath.

She stared at Alina’s door with eyes filled with hatred.

Behind that door was a woman who might be carrying Daniel’s child.

A woman who threatened Junior’s future.

But Clarissa could do nothing right now.

She could not confirm it. Could not confront Alina directly.

“Very well,” Clarissa said at last, her voice stiff. “I’ll contact Daniel.”

She turned away with a sharp movement. She walked away from the corridor with heavy, forceful steps.

Resentful. Frustrated. The anger in her chest growing larger.

Mr. Harris waited until Clarissa had completely disappeared from sight.

Then he took out his phone. He typed a brief message to Daniel.

*”Sir, Mrs. Clarissa just came to Mrs. Alina’s room. She wanted to speak about Master Junior. I stopped her as per your instructions. What are your orders going forward?”*

The reply came quickly.

*”Good. Do not let Alina meet anyone. ANYONE. Even if her family comes, hold them off first. Give any reason necessary so they don’t push through. Security must remain tight until I arrive home this evening.”*

Mr. Harris read the message twice.

Then he typed his reply.

*”Understood, Sir.”*

He called the two security guards posted at the end of the corridor.

“You two, take turns guarding this door. Two shifts. One at the door, one at the end of the corridor. No one passes without direct authorization from Mr. Daniel. Is that clear?”

“Yes, sir.”

Mr. Harris gave a satisfied nod. He glanced once more at Alina’s door.

Then he turned and walked out of the corridor toward the lower floor.

There was one more matter to be taken care of.

Mrs. Helen.

Mr. Harris walked toward the staff area at the back of the mansion,

He found Mrs. Helen just stepping out of the changing room. She had already swapped her uniform for her personal clothes.

Ready to go home after her shift ended.

“Mrs. Helen,” Mr. Harris called.

The woman turned. Her face was tired. Her eyes were puffy, as though she had been crying.

“What now, Harris?” she asked in a weary tone.

“You are not permitted to leave. Mr. Daniel wishes to meet you in person.”

Mrs. Helen looked at him with wide eyes. “For what?”

“I don’t know. But this is a direct order from him.” Mr. Harris held her gaze without expression. “Come with me. Back to the security room.”

Mrs. Helen felt the blood drain from her face.

The security room again.

Daniel wanted to meet her personally.

This was not a good sign. She was certain Daniel wanted to speak with her about the photographs she had taken without permission.

“Harris, please,” said Mrs. Helen, her voice trembling. “I’ve worked all day. I’m exhausted. Let me go home. I’ll meet Mr. Daniel tomorrow.”

“I’m sorry, Mrs. Helen. This is not a request.” Mr. Harris nodded to the two guards behind him. “We will escort you to the security room. Wait there until Mr. Daniel arrives.”

Mrs. Helen wanted to protest. Wanted to run. But two large security guards were already flanking her on the left and right.

She had no choice. Mrs. Helen complied. She walked toward the basement alongside the guards, with Mr. Harris following from behind, his face unreadable.

Meanwhile, elsewhere, Daniel sat in the back seat of his luxury car on the way home to the mansion.

His personal assistant, Marcus, sat beside him with a tablet in hand.

“Sir,” said Marcus, scrolling through the screen. “There are a few matters to report.”

Daniel was still focused on his phone. Reading the updates from Mr. Harris about the situation at home.

“Go ahead.”

“Earlier, while you were still in your meeting at the restaurant, there was an incoming call from Mr. Richard Hayes. Mrs. Alina’s father. He wishes to arrange a meeting with you as soon as possible.”

Daniel shifted his attention away from his phone screen. A thin smile crossed his lips.

“Of course he wants to meet. I calculated that would happen.”

Marcus looked at Daniel with mild confusion. “What do you mean, Sir?”

Daniel leaned back in his seat. He gazed out the window at the busy city traffic. Earlier during his meeting, Daniel had asked a media contact to publish the story about Alina’s pregnancy.

News that significant would surely reach Richard’s ears. And of course he would panic. And want direct confirmation.

“He must want to confirm the news about Alina’s pregnancy.”

Marcus nodded slowly. Beginning to understand his employer’s strategy.

“Forgive me, Sir, did you intentionally make that news public?”

“Of course.” Daniel’s smile widened. “The more people who know Alina is pregnant, the more who will celebrate alongside me.”

Daniel continued the thought inwardly. *And the harder it will be for Alina to deny it. She will be more and more

bound to me.*

Marcus noted something on his tablet. “So then, what will you do about Mr. Hayes? Will you meet with him?”

“Certainly,” Daniel answered without hesitation. “Schedule it for him. The sooner, the better.”

“Very well, Sir. I’ll arrange it.”

Marcus typed several messages. Then fell silent. His expression looked uncertain.

Daniel glanced at him. “What else?”

Marcus did not answer immediately. His fingers tapped nervously against the tablet.

“Marcus.” Daniel’s voice was sharper now. “Speak.”

Marcus drew a deep breath. “Sir, there is additional information regarding Mr. Hayes. Our people report he has visited the office of Rachel Chen three times this week, together with Emma Carter.”

Daniel furrowed his brow. That name was unfamiliar to him.

“Who is Rachel Chen?”

“A lawyer, Sir. She specializes in women’s rights. Particularly handling cases of domestic violence and custody disputes.”

Daniel went silent.

His mind worked quickly to process the information.

Richard was meeting with a lawyer who handled domestic violence cases.

Three times in one week. Together with Emma.

The implication was clear.

They were building a case against him.

Gathering evidence. Planning a way to free Alina.

Daniel felt unease creep through his chest.

Alina’s pregnancy had not been confirmed. The actual test had not been conducted. Dr. Ross’s report was only a temporary fabrication.

If Richard and that lawyer moved quickly, they could pull Alina out before Daniel had the chance to truly bind her.

“Schedule the meeting with Richard sooner,” said Daniel firmly. “Tomorrow morning. Eight o’clock if necessary. I have to make sure they don’t act rashly.”

Marcus typed quickly on his tablet. “Understood, Sir. I’ll contact Mr. Hayes right now.”

Daniel gazed out the window again. His jaw tightened.

“And Marcus, one more thing.”
