She froze as she saw Rico in her office. Her heart skipped a beat as their eyes met. His expression changed to a worried one immediately and he rushed to her.

Madam Olga walked out of the office without saying anything.

“Wh… what happened to you?” Rico asked as he placed his hands on her shoulders and ran his eyes over her body.

Alessa didn't respond, she just kept staring at him with tears in her eyes. She has always wanted to see him for the past three months just to ask him questions but now, she couldn't figure out what to say.

He held her hands and stared at the bloody bands on her wrists.

He looked up at her and stared at her bloody lips.

“Do they hurt so much?” he asked as he used his thumb to caress the corner of her lips.

“My… my chest hurts.” Alessa managed to say as tears streamed down her cheeks.

“Were you hit there? How bad is it?” Rico asked, staring at her. He looked genuinely concerned which made Alessa so confused and crazy.

“Don’t cry,” he muttered as he used his thumb to wipe her tears.

“Wh… why did you leave without saying anything?” Alessa asked with her voice breaking.

“Oh.” he chuckled a little.

“It was nothing serious. Olga wanted to take the kids from me by all means so she threatened me with my brother. I couldn't say anything to you because if I did, I wouldn't be able to get your kids back and handle everything but you have nothing to worry about. I settled everything and got your kids back.” he said with a smile but Alessa didn't smile. She just kept staring.

“I’m sorry,” Rico added when she wasn't saying anything.

“Do you want to see a picture of them? I… “

“Do you know Bryan?” she finally asked and Rico raised his brows.

“Huh?”

“My hus… my ex-husband. Bryan, do you know him?” she asked and Rico's lips parted as he thought of what to say.

“Yes.” he sighed and Alessa shook her head at him.

“Why didn't you tell me?”

“Because it's not important. I am not friends with him, we just do business together.”
