He found it in his pants pocket and he stood up.

“Are you okay?” Thane asked Tracy as he moved closer to her.

She nodded in response.

“All this was for a flash drive?” she asked and he shrugged in response.

Suddenly the man stood up and pulled out a knife but Thane didn't notice.

“Hey, watch out.” Tracy raised her voice but it was too late for Thane to move out of the way. Tracy placed her hand on his back where he was about to be cut and the man ended up cutting her hand.

She cried in pain as blood rushed out of her hand. Thane turned to the man and punched him repeatedly till he passed out again. He couldn't kill him, he wasn't ordered to do that.

If he kills him, it could cause a problem one way or the other. There are rules for how these things work in the crime world.

“Why the hell did you do that?” Thane snapped at Tracy as he turned to her. She held her bleeding arm as she winced in pain.

“He wanted to hurt you and I didn't know what to do,” Tracy said as she looked at him in tears. Thane clenched his fist as he stared at her.

He was mad, so mad at himself! Memories of how he couldn't protect his wife came rushing in. The day he saw her die, the pains that she went through before she died.

Everything was flooding in and he felt so mad at himself.

“Let's go,” he said coldly and held her other hand as he pulled her gently out of the restroom. They passed a different exit out of the building.

They got into the car and Thane drove into the streets.

Tracy moaned in pain and shut her eyes. Thane kept glancing at her but he had no idea what to say. Guilt was eating him up, it's his fault that she got hurt.

After driving for minutes, Thane pulled over at the side of the road. Tracy looked around and noticed there was a store not too far from the car but the street was empty.
