It felt like I was being sliced in half.
Priscilla's eyes lit up. "Does it help with cramps, too? Every time my time of the month rolls around, my stomach is in agony. Can you try a few needles on me?"
"Mine's due in a couple of days, too."
Claire noticed Priscilla clasping her hands in a pleading gesture. She paused and observed her carefully.
"Physically, you shouldn't have any major issues."
She checked Priscilla's pulse. "You can't control your cravings every time it hits, can you?"
Priscilla chuckled sheepishly. "Even though I come from a family of doctors, I just can't seem to stop myself."
"My cravings just go off the charts."
"I want chocolate, ice cream, and sweet lattes."
Claire frowned. "Skip the ice cream, but you can have hot lattes."
As for sweets, moderation was key. Too much of a good thing was bad.
That old myth about calories not counting during your period was completely false.
"You must have caught a bad chill when you were younger. It's easy to manage, just watch what you eat."
"Mary always told me to do my morning stretches and yoga. Don't you practice?" The Hastings family supposedly had strict routines.
As a Hastings, Priscilla couldn't possibly be slacking that much, right?
"I..." Priscilla flushed. "I can never wake up in the winter."
She only did them when she remembered. At home, Winston had to force her.
Any other time, she didn't lift a finger.
"You really need to practice. Don't be lazy; it's good for your health."
"I'll write you a couple of prescriptions later..."
Before Claire could finish, Priscilla cut her off. "Can we skip the medication?"
"Isn't there another way?"
