Herman kept to himself, quietly watching Sean from a distance, his mind already dissecting everything about Tavon’s fatal fall.
Sean didn’t stick around. He burned the offerings, bowed his head at the grave, and left without another word. The whole time, he barely acknowledged Anastasia, acting like she was just another face in the crowd.
Anastasia and Salma lingered in the cemetery a little longer, paying their respects before heading out. For now, they were staying at a hotel. Salma was having a hard time coping—she barely spoke, just sat there lost in her grief. Anastasia stayed close, trying her best to be there for her.
In his own hotel room, Herman called Nelson. “Check what assets Tavon had in his name before he died.”
Nelson answered automatically, “Mr. Salstrom, are you planning to help Mrs. Salstrom fight for the inheritance?”
Herman’s reply was ice-cold. “You think I’m desperate enough to chase after Thomas Stanton’s money? Just do what I asked. I want everything you find in half an hour.”
Meanwhile, Dailey had made some headway into Kim’s so-called accident. Just as Anastasia had suspected—it was no accident at all.
Turned out, a group called “K”—five people in total—had orchestrated the whole thing. The five of them worked together, staging the perfect cover-up.
These people were slippery. Even with Dailey’s skills, he’d only managed to track down one member so far. Herman couldn’t risk scaring them off, so he played it cool and waited for the right moment.
Whether the K Organization was after Anastasia specifically, or who was really behind them, there was still no proof. The group kept everything under wraps, never giving up information about their employers. Maybe even the members didn’t know who was pulling the strings.
For now, Herman had no choice but to lay low and wait for the right opportunity.
Nelson realized he’d overstepped and wished he could kick himself. “Sorry, Mr. Salstrom. I’ll get on it right now.”
Nelson was quick—half an hour later, Tavon’s financial details were sitting in Herman’s inbox.
One thing stood out—a five hundred million dollar trust fund in Tavon’s name.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Bond Between Us (Anastasia and Herman)
Author pls Pls don't separate Ana and Herman once again because of Sandy. There must be an ending to Ana's sufferings!...
Yes yes yes!!! Thank you!!!...
How comes the twists are becoming uninteresting and unrealistic? Readers will prefer cleaner straight happy endings. Please don't go far beyond otherwise readers will lose interest. Time to end the story like we want it to be....
Please give us a happy ending for Anastasia and Herman with Pattie recognized as Herman's daughter, thank you!!!...
