Tavon spent some time at the hospital before leaving Sean in the nurse’s care and heading home.

The housekeeper had been so spooked the night before that she bolted, didn’t even bother to ask for her pay.

Tavon had once thought about hiring Mckenzie to help around the house, but after he left for Nabb Mount, Mckenzie—being wary of Sandy—decided not to take the job.

The house felt empty and cold. Tavon was about to take a breather when he suddenly remembered Ashley was still in her room.

Ashley hadn’t gotten any better—still out cold. The doctor had already said that unless there was some miracle, she’d be stuck in a vegetative state for the rest of her life.

Tavon rushed upstairs, and as soon as he opened the door, the stench hit him in the face.

Ashley had lost control of her body, and with no one to look after her, the sheets were completely soiled.

He nearly gagged on the smell and couldn’t even step closer. Tavon quickly backed out and called a cleaning service to handle the mess.

Not long after, the cleaner finished up and said, “All set, Mr. Tavon.”

“Thanks, here’s your payment,” Tavon said, handing over the money without a second thought.

Then it hit him—there was nobody at home to look after Ashley. He couldn’t take care of her himself. As soon as the cleaner left, Tavon called a care facility.

He moved fast. By that afternoon, Ashley had been checked into the nursing home, a year’s fees paid upfront, and Tavon was off the hook.

Leaving the care home, Tavon called Salma. “Salma, are you still mad at me? I’ve been running around all night—Sean fell down the stairs and landed in the hospital, Sandy’s gone, and I’ve been sorting things out all morning. I just got Ashley settled into a care home…”

He didn’t mention anything about Sandy hiring a hitman.

Hearing Tavon say he put Ashley in a care home left Salma cold. She asked, “So, what are you going to do now? Go back to Nabb Mount?”

“Sean’s health isn’t good. I’ll stay in Willowbrook and keep an eye on him,” Tavon said. “Sandy took off with all my money. Even the trust fund I left for you and Ana—Sandy blew through that too. That ungrateful girl, she’ll be the death of me…”

Salma cut him off. “We’re heading back to Riverdale today with your son-in-law and the kids. If you’re staying in Willowbrook, take care of yourself.”

“So you’re leaving so soon?” Tavon sounded a little disappointed.

“There’s no reason for us to hang around now that things have settled down. You’re always welcome in Riverdale,” Salma replied, keeping it polite.
