Scott was a man who’d seen it all in the business world—the double-dealing, the scheming, and more gold-digging women than he cared to count.
Any other woman would’ve found an excuse to slip into his bed by now.
But Sandy just fell asleep on the couch, no blanket, nothing.
Something in Scott softened. He quietly got up and gently covered her with a blanket.
Sandy, realizing the charade was up, blinked her eyes open and pretended she’d just woken up. “Mr. Stranz, you’re awake! Are you feeling better? You really shouldn’t drink so much next time—it’s not good for you.”
Scott immediately put some space between them, settling at the far end of the sofa. “Why are you here? Where’s Linda?”
“Linda had something come up, so she left early. I brought you back here with the driver, Xiao Liao,” Sandy explained. “He said this is where you usually stay after drinking. I was worried you’d be uncomfortable sleeping in your suit, so I changed it for you. And I got some hangover medicine ready.”
“So Xiao Liao told you to bring me back here?” Scott asked, raising an eyebrow. “Did you really stay up all night looking after me?”
Sandy nodded. “It’s my job.”
That answer made Scott look at her with newfound appreciation.
He grinned, “If it were anyone else, they’d be in my bed, not on the couch. Though honestly, women who end up in my bed don’t usually get happy endings.”
Sandy put on her best flustered face. “Mr. Stranz, I swear, I never thought about anything like that. I just want to do my job well. I would never cross that line.”
Seeing her so nervous, Scott decided not to tease her any further. “Relax, I’m just kidding. Come on, let’s get ready for work.”
“Yes, Mr. Stranz.” Sandy was sharp—she never let her true thoughts show around Scott.
She was hardworking, too. She’d already set out fresh clothes for him and ordered breakfast.
By the time Scott finished getting ready, breakfast had arrived.
He invited Sandy to join him, but she just stood to the side. “You go ahead, Mr. Stranz. I’m fine here.”
Her formality put Scott off a bit. What man actually likes a woman who keeps her distance?

The readers' comments on the novel: The Bond Between Us (Anastasia and Herman)
Author pls Pls don't separate Ana and Herman once again because of Sandy. There must be an ending to Ana's sufferings!...
Yes yes yes!!! Thank you!!!...
How comes the twists are becoming uninteresting and unrealistic? Readers will prefer cleaner straight happy endings. Please don't go far beyond otherwise readers will lose interest. Time to end the story like we want it to be....
Please give us a happy ending for Anastasia and Herman with Pattie recognized as Herman's daughter, thank you!!!...
Pls update. This novel is really good....
