Anastasia laughed and fell into Herman’s arms. “My husband’s the best.”

“In what way?” Herman teased, grinning.

She caught on, her eyes sparkling. “Every way.”

Before she could make her escape, Herman scooped her up and tossed her over his shoulder.

“You can’t just flatter me like that and expect no consequences,” he said, carrying her off.

Anastasia giggled, smacking his back. “Herman! Put me down, you big goof.”

He set her on the bed and leaned in, pinning her gently. He kissed her hard. “Babe, time for a little exercise.”

His hands started to wander, making her squirm and laugh as he tickled her.

Right as things were really heating up, there was a knock at the door.

“Mommy, I want to sleep with you,” came Nancy’s voice through the door.

Anastasia and Herman shared a look. “Our son’s up.”

“Let’s just ignore him. The nanny will come get him soon,” Herman said, determined not to lose the moment.

But Nancy kept knocking. “Mommy! Mommy!”

Anastasia pressed her hands to Herman’s chest, stopping him. “Go settle him, please.”

Herman groaned. “Honey, I’m ready to go here.” He gave her an exaggerated look.

She laughed, shaking her head. “Go, you can finish what you started later.”

Muttering, Herman got up and opened the door, scooping Nancy up. “Buddy, why aren’t you sleeping with your sisters?”

The nannies were in the next room, watching the three kids. Herman carried Nancy back.

“Dad, I want to sleep with Mommy,” Nancy insisted, clinging to him.

“You’re a big boy now,” Herman coaxed, “Don’t you want to sleep by yourself like a grown-up?”
