As soon as Celeste spoke, not only Lilian, but Lennox, Jorge, and Miles were all visibly stunned.
Lennox's reaction was expected.
As for Jorge, he had previously looked into Celeste a little and knew her family background was relatively ordinary.
While the Rodriguez family's business had recently picked up, it still wasn't at the level where they could casually fork out several hundred million to buy a diamond, right?
Miles, for his part, believed he knew Celeste's situation inside out.
Given the Rodriguez family's current strength, even producing 100 million in spare cash would be difficult—let alone 500 million.
Although Trevor had once paid Celeste two billion in advance as a thank-you gift, the money had been used to help the Rodriguez family with capital turnover.
But even if the Rodriguez family business was doing better now, and even if she still had a large chunk of that two billion left, wasn't it a bit "too much" to casually spend this much money on a single diamond?
Thinking of this, he immediately whipped out his phone, excitedly messaging Trevor.
"When I saw your wife just now at the auction, I was still wondering what she was doing here. Now I get it…
"You know about the diamond being auctioned, right? The starting bid was 400 million, and she immediately raised it to 500 million. Is she seriously trying to buy that diamond? My god, she's gone cra—"
Before Miles could finish typing his message, someone bid 550 million.
Then Celeste spoke again. She directly said, "700 million."
Miles was speechless.
Even though he hadn't finished what he wanted to say, he still hit send and fired off the message to Trevor.
Tonight, everyone attending the auction more or less guessed that this rare diamond would end up going for no less than a billion.
But Celeste, every time she spoke, it was in leaps of 100 million or 150 million. In just three rounds, the bidding had already reached 700 million.
Trevor hadn't replied to his earlier message. But Miles couldn't hold it in anymore and quickly messaged him again.
"Your wife pushed the bidding to a billion. Damn, I think she actually wants to win that diamond. Does she like diamonds that much?"
This time, Trevor replied not long after. But it was just a single period character.
Miles wondered what the hell was that period supposed to mean.
At the start of the auction, quite a few people had been interested in participating. But from both an emotional and investment standpoint, once the price started climbing too high, many people chose to back off—they weren't going to chase it blindly.
Some were truly obsessed with diamonds. Many of them were even far wealthier than Celeste.
However, the wealth people saw in them wasn't necessarily theirs to control. Or even if it was, they didn't have the same freedom as Celeste when it came to how they used it.
So, even if they wanted to compete, due to various considerations, by the time the bidding price reached 1.6 billion, almost no one else remained in the game.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Breaking Point of Love (Celeste and Trevor)
Another saviour debt?? Seriously?...
I just need an effing glimpse to what goes around in Trevor's mind. Author - do something about it please There is not even a single mention about what Trevor really wants - interested in Celeste? If yes, then why there is no reaction on seeing people courting Celeste...
I love the story bt really death slow... Y cant you post 5 to 10 chapters per day????...
This reads like a daily diary account...and not a story with a planned plotline. Author, we would share if you took the time to start developing the story, rather than dragging it out with outlines. no depth, no character development, not even the overused tropes are present, just a daily itinerary. We want you to do well..but you have to put the work in making it a viable story...
The storyline is moving painfully slow.. Will we ever get to hear Trevor's side of story? Currently the mixed signals from Trevor are just confusing and frustrating. He is using Jordyn to postpone the divorce and side by side ignoring Wynn to the level that he didnt invite her to the Fleming group banquet. But when asked about clarifying divorce to Jordyn, he is not doing so. Awfully frustrating...
Team beck or Caleb. Trevor has wynn saved his contact as 'babe', kissing her in office and spending nights with her. How in initial chapters Trevor pushed jordyn towards wynn without caring about a mother's feelings. Now he is two timing, suddenly interested in Celeste after knowing background and leaving wynnn behind. Spineless man. He knows cels history with her father, still chose to support them. I don't how people are rooting for cel and Trevor. I wish truth comes out. Cel deserves someone who loves her with whole heart. She thrives in her field. Beck saw cel when she was not famous. But Caleb is good option too. I hope Celeste grows spine starts to demand explaination for dragging divorce....
Author - dont you think the story has been dragged as is? Now, you want to include the angle of Wynn being pregnant as well? God, i really want to know Trevor side of story, why is he playing both sides?...
Are they going to compromise for Jordyns sake? I'll be sad for Celeste if that happens. Why is author giving mixed signals in almost every alternate chapter? Initially Trevor and Wynn were always appearing together along with huge PDA, then Trevor seems involved with Celeste - when she was under alcohol influence, then Trevor seemed to be ignoring Wynn - all the while divorce proceedings are still on and now Jordyn is getting depressed because of their situation. Feels like we are just roaming around the bush or the author is making us do that. Sigh!!...
I don't understand where this story is headed to.. I can't seem to know what Trevor is thinking, in late 500 chapters, he was seen dodging the divorce, ignoring Wynn and now at 624, he is planning on how to tell Jordyn about the divorce. This is messed up!...
My fav novel post us more chap per day...
