Of course, Narcissa knew perfectly well that Candice's claim that Celeste wasn't in was just an excuse.
Celeste was most likely deliberately giving her the cold shoulder because she still held a grudge over what had happened previously.
But Narcissa's project was currently in trouble, and YodaVision was their best option.
So, Narcissa still patiently continued speaking with Candice even though she knew that Celeste was intentionally making things difficult for her.
"Then, may I ask when Ms. Rodriguez will return?"
Candice replied politely, "Sorry, Ms. Rodriguez didn't specify. I'm not very sure either."
Narcissa knew there was no point in saying more. So, she simply said, "Then, I'll come again another day."
She hung up soon after.
After that, she called Wynn and asked whether she had Celeste's number.
Wynn replied, "No."
Narcissa then asked, "Would it be convenient for you to ask Trevor for it?"
Wynn knew why she was looking for Celeste. "Of course."
So Narcissa waited in her car.
A few minutes later, Wynn sent Celeste's number over.
After thanking her, Narcissa immediately dialed the number using her assistant's phone.
Celeste had already guessed she would try calling from a different number. So, she didn't answer her phone when she saw it was an unfamiliar number.
Narcissa didn't expect Celeste to be this guarded. So, she sent a text message instead.
"Ms. Rodriguez, this is Narcissa Lackspur. I have a collaboration proposal that I'd like to discuss with you. You may name any conditions you want. May I know when you will be available?"
Celeste saw the message, but she ignored it. She simply put her phone aside and continued working.
Seeing that there was no reply, Narcissa tried calling again.
Narcissa didn't step aside.
Hearing this, Celeste replied, "Regarding that, you can contact my secretary directly. She'll make the arrangements according to my schedule."
After saying that, she moved to walk past her.
Narcissa knew Celeste was just brushing her off the moment she heard that. So, she stepped in front of Celeste again, her tone turning cold.
Celeste didn't get angry after hearing that. Instead, she smiled.
"Yes, I do resent you because of what happened last time. And yes, I am deliberately making things difficult for you? Am I not allowed to do that?"
Narcissa clearly didn't expect Celeste to answer so bluntly.
Celeste just walked past her and left after saying that.

I think there wont be a closure anytime soon, with the speed with which the story is flowing. New characters are being introduced, sides and opinions are being formed blindly - yet no one is ever discussing anything with each other. This is by far the most frustrating novel i have read and yet, come back for an update in a hope that there may be something in reader's favor now. Sigh! There is nothing. If author doesn't want to take Celeste Trevor route, then let Celeste move on like Trevor has. Enough with this beating around the bush....

I can't even believe there are almost 800 chapters and absolutely no story line advances. Basically Trevor is absolute trash and deserves to be mocked and scorned because of his cheating nature, bringing his mistress around like he's single and flaunting the billions he spends on her as if he is not already married for 7 years. Celeste deserves everyone to know her story and be free of this loser....
Very slow in updating chapters😔.... Tat too only one... It vil be useful if updates have 5 chap a day or atleast 3 per day...

Why am i reading this novel still? In what hope, seriously? To have Trevor regret his choices? To get some clarity or closure on so many gaps this novel offers? To have Shaws & Lockets ever face repercussions? To get clarity on Celeste's mother life? Because seriously, 720+ chapters gone by and from last 350 chapter - there has been no significant progress, the story has been playing around in loops. This is just sad...
